Stop NJ Transit Fare Hike
Published March 7, 2010
NJ Transit is New Jersey’s public transportation corporation and provides bus, rail, and light rail services that link locations in New Jersey, New York, and Philadelphia. It is the nation’s third largest provider of mass transit and directly serves approximately 900,000 users each day.

On March 5, 2010, NJ Transit’s executive director announced that it plans to increase fares by 25 percent and eliminate off-peak discounts. These changes are scheduled to go into effect in May.

We petition NJ officials across all levels of government to stop these planned fare hikes. These drastic increases go against NJ Transit's mission "to provide safe, reliable, convenient and cost-effective transit service." We demand that officials enact more bearable and reasonable measures to address NJ Transit's current budget shortfall.
