Some OpenOffice developers announced, few time ago, a great (in their minds) project: Trying to copy ugly, unusable Ribbon interface, made by Micro$oft for Word and other Office products

http://blogs.sun.com/GullFOSS/entry/prototyping_a_new_user_interface

This Ribbonized GUI has already several negative comments by Micro$oft users, so, why trying to copy a poor GUi instead to analyze and solve serious issues present in OpenOffice? (it has many serious issues)

if you Agree with me (and many other) please sign petition, so we can stop OpenOffice renaissance (or middle age?) not useful project, and developpers can avoid to stress and go to solve issues

I support this petition. Stop disfiguring the UI of the OOo. The work with the applications is quite effective at the moment. I am forced to work with the MSOffice 2007 and I hate the imagination that the same UI will be introduced to OOo!

Please don\'t change the UI. The classical UI with menu bars and tool bars have worked for years. Why should this be changed? If Microsoft invents some stupid and counter-productive UI, does that mean everyone has to copy this? I only use Linux and Mac OS. On Linux every application uses the same UI (title bar, menu bar, tool bar). On Mac OS every application uses the same UI (menu bar on top and in the window a title bar and tool bar). Just respect these UI\'s and let the applications integrate with the default UI of the operating system. Microsoft decided to change the UI on some applications, so applications on Windows are a mess nowadays as every application uses a different UI. On Linux and Mac OS this mess doesn\'t exist and we don\'t want such mess, so just keep the default UI which has worked for years. Respect the default UI of Linux and Mac OS, so there\'s a consistent look and feel across all applications on the operating system. Windows doesn\'t have a consistent look and feel, but Linux and Mac OS still have a consistent look and feel across all applications. Keep it that way. Don\'t ruin our consistent look and feel. We don\'t want several different UI\'s like on Windows.

I support this petition ! Please fix the remaining bugs and limitations and improve performance instead of copying MS Office 2007 in these worst features.

Useless ribbon gui is not necessary and would affect a lot of people\'s productivity with OOo.

I support this petition. I positively can\'t stand the ribbon interface. It\'s the main reason I switched to OpenOffice.
