Either everyone should pay taxes or no one should. cults, churches, charity business, exxon. I don't see a difference. If a charity gives everything away, then cost will equal income and presto, no taxes.
I almost admire Hubbard's ability to hide in plain sight. He said he would invent a religion for the purpose of making money, and then did precisely that.
Any "religion" that forces you to pay to learn is not a religion, rather a business. If the money is donated rather than forced that is a different story.
Any organization can call itself religious, but there are no indicia of spirituality on which the Scientologists can base the claim. There is no legitimate reason it should be a tax exempt organization.

Scientology is a farse and not only should this tax exemption be removed but ALL churchs should have it revolked. Seperation of church and state shuld cover this as well. Religion is for the weak.
