Scientology is NOT a religion. It's just something thought up by a science fiction writer, a bad one at that, trying to back a quick buck. It's just a sad day in our country that they get tax exemption when all of us honest people work our butt's off and have to pay through the nose.
It would be a good thing for the govt. to honestly look into this, but I am not holding my breath. An attach on this cult would rally the rest of organized religion to their defense, maybe even as filing as "a friend of the court". Any "religion" that feels a newborn baby should be born in dark silence and left alone for a week in a dark room is sick, sick, sick. Scientology is a dangerous, cultist fringe group. In addition to the negative events of the past surrounding victims of scientology who have refused to take necessary medication for psychological diseases, Hubbard has used this organization, or psuedo-religion, for other motives, to extort millions and fatten his wallet. As a result, Scientology does not fulfill the requirements of tax-exempt status. In addition, it is a grave danger to the general public and to medical psychiatry.

Scientology is a cult. True religion does not measure who you are by the amount of money you have or give to the church. In a true religion, everyone is equal. Tom obviously, is proud of his status and position. After all, he paid his way on up.
By one defention religion is a set of BELIEFS, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader. On Scientology.org it says "In Scientology no one is asked to accept anything on belief or faith." Religion is built on faith in a higher power, a governor or the universe. People who have joined this cult have lost their faith and along with religion.
This so called church is just like many other churches because they do not walk the spiritual walk. Unfortunately talking the talk is what they are about. I have not seen a great deal of love comming out of the Church of Scientology. Apparently they have not ever heard the advice that my mother gave me when I was a little boy that was "If you don't have something nice to say about someone or to someone you should be quiet."
