How can this organization possibly be considered a religion when you have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to undergo training in order to qualify for each level? And doesn't anyone find it strange that The Church added more levels once their faithful had gone as far as they possibly could? You don't see real religions suddenly telling their followers "Now that you have reached enlightenment you have to give us pots more money because we have recently found that you need to go even higher than heaven." This bears all the hallmarks of a brainwashing scam...
It is high time that this cult stops being coddled by the US government with massive tax incentives in the guise of religion. This is not a religion, it is a business and should be treated like one. I believe that it is a cult, as well, but it seems these are true of Amway (a business and a cult) and they don't get a tax exemption, do they???
My sister went to Narconon - a Scientology drug rehab... it was a total cult environment. We watched her get sucked in but hoped she would sober up. They denied her much needed medical treatment yet failed in treating her.. Luckily she is now away from them, thinking clearly and drug free. No thanks to Narconon, or the LRHubbard shrine and bookstore in the lobby, but it did cost 25,000$
Scientology is not a real religion because it can't be trusted. Once you leave the cult, you're "fair game." The remedy for Scientology is to broadcast far and wide what they really believe - Xemu, body-theatens, all of that. These people have a very high threshold for nonsense. Don't you wonder why?

I have a Master's Degree in Religious Studies and have written several papers directly or indirectly about Scientology. The fact that the word "religion" is allowed to be used to describe this cult is an insult not only to us, but also the word itself. Please let everyone you know to sign this petition and speak out against a cult that ruins lives on a daily basis.
I have a family member who has been suckered by this religion and the end result is that this cult has completely washed his brain and ostracisized from his family. As executor of my Mother's will, I have personal first hand knowledge that he used almost all of his inheritence to give to the Cult od Scientology which is in the vicinity of ~$90,000. This cult has an undue and duress influence on its members and is un-american in every thought and concept.

I live in Clearwater, FL. Homebase of Scientology. I have to hand it to them, they put on an awesome Dork Fest every Saturday morning "exercising" after Tom Cruise said it was good for you. Who knew? All the frizzy hair in a 5 mile radius you can handle though.
