Scientology is definitely not a Church. It may well be a Cult. However, it is most certainly a Business, and should therefore be taxed as such.
PS: Heard on the radio that the Scientologists are trying to have this website shut down and get $100,000 in damages for trade-mark infringement.
Funny, I didn’t think that genuine religions were trade-marked …

Once upon a time, I was married to someone who belonged to the Church of Scientology. I did my best to gently dissuade her from further related activities but, alas, it only served to help in ending our marriage. Since that time, she has been through three other husbands (all Scientologists) and has spent thousands (if not tens of thousands) of dollars on Church-related training. After nearly 30 years' accosication with the "Church," she continues to smoke, drink and mismanage her life. I have never borne her any malice, merely feel sorry for this person who has been suckered by the likes of Tom Cruise, et al., for too long, into believing that paying alms to this wealthy cult - for cult it most assuredly is - is somehow going to help her straighten out her lost life.
Sad...and true. Consider that, at the end of his own life, no less that the FOUNDER, L. Ron Hubbard, sought to dissociate himself from this monstrous organization! Hm...
this so-called "church" is merely a cult masquerading as a legitimate faith...the very fact that it would be considered tax-exempt is an insult to all genuine religous faiths ou there
Stop this cult before it goes too far, no normal person would ever believe such rubbish as they are told to believe and many people suffer because of this cult...
Scientology's founder, L. Ron Hubbard, was quoted saying he wanted to get into religion because "that's where the money is." If that ain't a cult, I dunno what is.
The Church of Scientology is a cult, not a church. It should not be allowed to maintain a tax exempt status. Allowing Scientology a tax-exempt status is as ridiculous as it would have been to offer the same tax status to the former Heaven's Gate cult of the 1990's. Besides that, the church is based on a writer of fictional literature, not on any philisophical thought. Furthermore, this group should be invesigated for a number of crimes ranging from fraud to murder.
How can you claim to be a religion and sue for patent infringement on your "product"? If I had a web link called catholick.info,(I only added one letter), is the Pope going to sue me? No, I don't think so.
I'm all for freedom of religion, or whatever you want to do, but Scientology pushes it too far. Hopefully this still works without my last name on here, but I don't trust those weirdos with it.
There is proof of the exsistence of Judaism, Christianity and Islam, this scientology is a joke i understand have your faith and whatever but really its insane just look at its followers.

Writing a cultist book does not entitle tax exemption, nor does it give them the right to be called a 'church' or a 'religion'. Let them be called what they are, a cult. Are wiccans and satanists also tax free?
How can anyone reading the history of the founder and this crackpot "religion", come to any reasonable conclusion other than it's a lie at it's best and an outright scam at it's worst. This can't even be considered a buisness. They have no legitimate product or service. I had no idea that this was so big, and dangerous. To think I was going to buy that damn dianetics book at one time.
The only reason this CULT has not been stopped is because it is the playground of the 'elite'... if the average joe's were the ones caught up in it, our government (as well as the American people in general) would of stepped in and stopped it a long time ago...
