This organization preys on weak minded people with low self esteem. They are the masters of pschological manipulation and it is small wonder they advocate staying away from counseling. Any religion that requires either money or sex as a means of advancement should be avoided.
Scientology claims scientific benifits (among them the power of levitation, psychological benifits, etc.) yet does not open itself to scientific scrutiny (hint: it's because the whole things a load of bull). Believe me they are money grubbing individuals who will do ANYTHING to stop their detracters (as ordered by their leader)
All religions are cults since they rely on irrational 'faith' to accept what is invisible and supernatural. However, a religion 'invented' by a science fiction author that consists of invisible aliens embodying human flesh is no cult...it is a prime example of the ridiculous extent that 'believers' will go to embrace denial, to reject reality in favor of childlike wishful-thinking. I had a brush with these bums back in the seventies. My interaction was minimal but i could not extract them from my life. They followed me via phone all ove the place at one point nearly giving my dad a heart attack. No kidding. They scared the bejesus out of him, said I was missing.

This is an organization of criminals. If they are not, then perhaps they should drop their exemption proactively to prove to the world they are legitimate.
Don't stop with just Scientology! all religions are composed of the same smoke and mirrors. There should be NO tax exemption for any religious institution. At least taxing them would help pay for prosecuting pedophile priests and the Bill Tiltons, Oral Roberts, Swaggerts, and Bakkers of the world.
