Shock treatment goes against doctor's oath.
Psyches sometimes use ECT against their patients volition. Also they use it as discipline. Totally not cool if you ask me!
Use of ECT on children should be outlawed. Any and all use of ECT on any and all children should be thoroughly investigated and the perpetrators jailed. The false scientife data (garbage) that these people use to justify such torture and child abuse should be treated the same as the usual justifications child abusers give. There is no sane justifiable reason for torturing or abusing a child any time or in any case.
Yeah lets just strap people down and zap them till they choke on vomit. Sounds like wonderful psychotherapy. Must do wonders of good for your emotional and mental state. Bravo.
because nobody, not children, not elderly people, not any other social category should be given ECT, and physically harmed thereby, in the name of (biggest fraud of all) health. If the issue is knocking sense into people, getting a mule to kick a person in the head is likely to do as much good.
I support this petition because it is known that Mental Illness as defined by Psychiatry is scientifically unfounded yet they push such inhumanity in the guise of treatment, they should not have any opportunity to practice barbaric treatments upon our children.

I too am an ECT survivor. I was given ECT as a 13 year old supposedly to cure gender deviance. Psychiatrists are manifestly incompetent and although many do good, TAKEN AS A WHOLE they do more harm than good. The world would be a better place without psychiatrist (even though some would be hurt) but it would be especially a better place without ECT.
To shock children completely denies the fact that they are sentient beings worthy of respect and gentleness.The worse off they are,the LESS should be done in terms of aggressive "treatment"

Dr. John Friedberg put it best (if understated) with the title of his 1976 book, "Shock Treatment Is Not Good For Your Brain". That especially applies to developing brains.
I support this petition. ECT is nothing short of sanctioned torture and should be stopped. Further, I'd wager that not one of its practitioners would submit to such MIStreatement themselves.
because anyone who would subject a child (or adult) to this barbaric, evil practice, or agree with it, is basically an evil person. Go and ECT yourself!

because at best ECT temporarily improves depression while casuing permanent brain damage. Many times children and adolescents' problematic behavior is caused by abuse. We need to address the real causes of the behavior or it's going to end up costing the state a whole lot more.
I can see no reason why shock treatment would even be considered on a child. There are far too many possible explanations for a child's "deviant" behavior other than than his/her brain needs to be shocked into conformity. Psychiatry is an underdeveloped science as of yet, and requires extensive questioning and even rational fear on our part as human beings, before we begin to trust it.
I support this petition because children do not need to be electricuted. There are many more actions that can be used to attain the goal the psychcitrists want. Even Tasers are only used by police for non lethal protection and inhability.
Shock treatment is barbaric and only barbarian's could conceive of creating & doing such a horrible act to a beautiful,vulnerable child. Children are to be loved not tortured! Only in the field of psychiatry does such a barbaric activity come from in the name of mental health.

ECT is something that should be saved for the most dire of situations, when all else has failed. NOT FOR CHILDREN! As a member of NJ's 9-11 mental health org, I am appalled that after all we have been threw as a country that we would allow this to still happen!!
