Spammers and scammers are ruining the internet. Spam comes in many forms all over the internet including, but not limited to: e-mail, newsgroups, chat, instant messaging, Window popup ads, blogs, guestbooks and even message forums.

Spam is dangerous, as many people who are unaware of what it is will answer them only to be scammed by crooks and in some rare cases even killed. Any company which is reputable will not conduct business by spamming for potential customers as it will accomplish nothing more than ticking people off.

I have seen several sites close down their services such as message forums and guestbooks because they were getting sick of the spamming on their site. This kind of spamming is solely for the purpose of getting their sites to rank higher in search engines by putting links on other people's sites. This, however can be thwarted by addings tags <link rel="nofollow"> in the head section of the site's source.

Spam is also annoying, especially when you get a flood of it in your e-mail, or when you go to a message forum or newsgroup and see nothing but "TURN $5 INTO $5,000!" posted as every second thread.

Spammers waste other people's resource at the network owner's expense by wasting their bandwidth for mass e-mailing, and flooding forums which uses up either SQL or disk space which is very expensive and could be used for something more desirable or usefull. Spamming also makes it harder for people seeking legitimate help to find solutions as they have to sift through tons of spam on message forums or newsgroups just to find out if they even got a response to their own question. This also makes it fustrating because people who would normally reply to answer don't even bother because they just end up sifting through the garbage as well just to find something that is legit.

It gets very annoying when someone tells me again and again that I can enlarge certain body parts for both male and female organs, stop smoking which I didn't even start to begin with, loose weight, get a so-called university diploma which probably isn't worth the paper it's written on, or those ones where some poor sap needs my help to get several millions of dollars out of Africa, which is a very dangerous 4-1-9 scam, and many other scams.

Most spammers seem to only know how to type in ALL CAPS, which is like shouting and very rude.

Chain letters are also just as annoying and not only waste bandwidth when several people take part in them, it also passes poeple's e-mail address on to strangers who collect them for the purpose of selling to spammers.

I support this petition. You know, there are two things I hate. 1. When you're searching the internet for a specific topic. When you think you've found what you're looking for. It's some sorry-assed site cached in on that topic. 2. I hate evil ad robots.
