I have set up this petition to stop the government from sending parents single
and no single parents to have to work when the youngest child reaches age of 6.

Does John Howard realise that even if you are a married, that sometime an older sibling has a disabity? Obvously NOT!, IT WILL BE AN ABSOLUTE IMPOSIBILTY FOR MY MUM TO WORK!

PLUS MOTHER'S WITH SCHOOL AGED CHILDREN ARE NOT NORMALLY CONSIDERED FOR WORK!

LETS GET TOGETHER AND PUT A STOP TO THIS CRAZY AND SOCIALLY UNEXCEPTABLE RULE!
PLEASE SIGN
IF YOU AGREE!

i would like to know where i stand with this new australian budget on single mothers. im a single mother with 3 children i suffer from agrophobia which is a mental illness which stops me from leaving the house i also suffer from other medical condisions. how am i ment to go out and get a job when i cant even leave the house. the goverment hasent even consided that some of us have diffrent circumstances. and what is he saying that being a mother is not a full time job id like to see him take my job on.i enjoy being at home when my children get home from school i know there safe and this is my job and its a big one i do it all on my own and its my right to be a mother my children need me. and is jhon howard saying that a child at age six dosent need there mother anymoor at age 15 they are moor independent but age six they are dependent on there mothers .so i guess there will be no education week no teacher meetings all us mothers will have no input in our childrens education.how dare the goverment do this to us. dont you think if we wonted to work we would be . and not all of us can. we need to fight and stand up for our right to be mothers at home.and i dont wont after school care raising my children.women who are in abusive realasion ships are going to be staying in them cause they wont be able to get on the pension and if we get sacked at work whats going to happen there is so manny issues on this.the goverment really hasent thort through this and i dont think he cares he dosent have a heart at all i will never vote for jhon howard again he got so manny single women in by giving them the end of year monney of $600 per child and than does this to us he is sly .

This is a cruel and insensitive law. It is a woman's fundermental right to raise her children full-time if she CHOOSES. Taking this off a mum is like forcing all working mothers to resign and be stay at home mums. SAHM's are invaluable to their children, our schools, with their volunteering and the community. Forcing a mum into the workforce isn't doing her family or the community any favours. Also, how can a single mum without a car drive her children to before/after school care before work. Those part-time jobs are few and far between and few of them would allow a woman days of if her child gets sick, or let her leave on a whim if her child has an accident at school. OK, encourage single mums to return to the workforce and give them every opportunity to if they CHOOSE, but don't force them into the workforce. This will result in unhappy families and children roaming the streets after school.

I believe policies like this will just create a generation of latch key children who have poor social skills and to get attention that they can't get from their parents (because they are too busy working) will lead to increased crime rates in later years.

You need proper plans to "encourage" and support people to return to the workforce.

Disabled children still living with parents do get extra money, but it is not enough, my 9yr old sister needs consister care, she has 2 do exercises daily because of her disabilty she needs about 3hrs to do them! morning and night, plus consitant help with school work, she can't write properly, she can't read or write stories, but she is very smart verbally.
