What's next? A remake of Mad MAx or A Boy and His Dog? Remaking this classic is like colorizing the very beginning and the very end of the Wizard of Oz!!
the film is a cult classic, if a remake is made, there is no way it will be as good as the original, and it will just become commercialised, and ruine the effect of the original!
I was reading that they were going to make the Warriors with more "kung fu" action. First of all, what type of street gang knows karate? Second, wasn't the coolest thing about the Warriors the "street fighting"? MTV will kill us all!
The entire appeal of the Warriors is that it reeks of the 80's. How can you update gangs of mimes and shirtless men on rollerskates? You JUST CAN'T RELIVE THAT KIND OF MAGIC!
Paramount and MTV think that because they can test market and have backpatting meetings about remaking this film - then they will have a teen-hit/summer blockbuster on their hands. THEY ARE DEAD WRONG. Brad Pitt couldn't save this remake. The original was a genious work of art. Josh Hartnet and cronies (or other lame 'actors' chosen) won't stack up against the originals. Someone will get fired for this. DROP THE IDEA NOW DUMBASSES.
unless exactly accurate to the orig. especially the time frame, this will be a 2 hr gangsta rap video which will blow!! hip-hop kills! just say no to rap! u just know they will screw this up! no remake!!!
Yeah, MTV. Why have writers when you can you have lawyers buy the rights!! There is not one sincere reason for remaking this movie. I hope your target audience of 11-14 downloads it you shitbags!
i went and saw the Warriors 3 times one weekend at a drive inback in 1979 when it 1st came out.
i hear they wanna do a remake with martial arts fighting as opposed to street fighting. as if. how the hell would that be a remake when they are changing the core theme of the whole movie? its all about gangs and street fighting. the only martial arts we saw was when the riffs beat the crap out of cleon. the rest of the movie was strictly street fighting. we don't want or need a "remake". quit trying to ride the tail of the warriors comet and get your own comet to ride. this is a classic. don't screw it up like you did with the headbangers ball ok? when adam curry did headbangers,it was cool,it went down hill when ricky rachtman took over.
the warriors is like the original headbangers ball, don't screw with it.
I simply cannot see how the fuckers at MTV intend to remake a classic. Are they going to capture a remake from the original? I mean, what happens after the end? Still, who will play the original actors? This movie calls for the best. I don't know how they intende to get away from this. They must stick to the original, otherwise, they will fuck up BIG TIME!
the original is an awesome classic, a remake would ruin the classic how can they get away with this, itīs wrong i tell ya just wrong. Can you dig that holly-out-of-ideas-wood
A disgrace to even think to remake this cult classic. To find out that MTV is behind it makes it even twice as worse on the shitfest meter. leave well enough alone. This is and was not a "Pop" movie folks, its underground fans and underground vibe make this the best gang action film ever!
Oh sweet jesus, why are they doing this? Is MTV films involved with this? That should scare the hell out of ANYONE with even half a brain. This is gonna end up being about guns and martial arts and (pardon my french) hip hop. That's right! Just imagine what the soundtrack is going to be like. Good god this is going to be bad. PLEASE get as many people as possible to sign this petition!!!
Why can't any one think of any original idea's any more for films. This film can only be a disater. Long live the classic and original, greatest movie of all time. Can you dig it suckas!!!
My gosh, between this awesome movie getting remade, then The Evil Dead, The Longest Yard, Revenge of the Nerds.....I am starting to get a headache. Seriously Hollywood, enough with the remakes.
Like "West Side Story" and "Rocky Horror Picture Show," "The Warriors" works ONLY because of the era in which it was released. An updated version would have to be all about guns, so forget about all those classic fight scenes. If anything, do a sequel, maybe with one of the original cast as The Voice of Wisdom and Reason, but NOT a remake.
Stop this film! There's a remake why the majority of remakes suck--they can't live up to the original! Tony Scott's a great director, but even great directors never make good remakes. Take Tim Burton's "Planet of the Apes," Gus Van Sant's "Pyscho," and Jonathan Demme's "The Manchurian Candidate" and you'll easily see my point!
Tony Scott is a good director when he wants to be, but when it comes to remakes, retreads and sequels, he goes on automatic pilot. The great think about Hill's original is that it was of its time and was a serious done, self-reflective work where the humor was darkly based. Since he is very influenced by Stanley Kubrick, he'll most likely (especially if Jerry Brucheimer produces) turn it into a Music Video with Kubrickisms throughout, something we see in almost every commmercial film now anyhow. Finally, with DVDs, HD and hindreds of channels, do they have to use the same title? That could doom it, i.e. MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE, ALFIE and STEPFORD WIVES. If it is bad, well...
