They'll make a mess out of it. Can you just imagine instead of that radio DJ we'll have Snoop Dogg strolling down the street telling the whole story, rapping. Awful, it's gonna be a complete mess. Stop this remake! I support the cause, just say no to The Warriors remake!
If those losers remake this movie - here is a list of my requests - 1) No boy-band members
2) No girl-band members
3) No rappers
4) No pro-wrestlers
5) No pro-football players
6) No MTV promotion(s)
7) No Burger King, McDonalds or any other fast-food tie-ins
8) No former child stars
9) No Matrix stylized violence
10) No rainbow coalition type gangs - yes there many inter-racial gangs in the original - but that was not planned or sought - and we all know how people can carried away in this PC era
11) No "it girls"
12) No American Idol or any other "reality tv" contestants
13) No original Warriors cast cameos - I really do not want to see Swan or Ajax playing a cop or civilian
14) No "Jackass" or any of the spin-offs cast members
15) No actors or actresses that are on any WB or UPN TV show
16) No rap remake of the Eagles "In the City" when the credits roll
WTF! SAN FRANSICO! IT'S A NEW YORK BASED MOVIE. NOW THAT'S INSULTING! THEY CAN'T MAKE IT BACK TO CONEY FROM THE WEST COAST! WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO DO!? FLY!?
WHAT ABOUT CONEY ISLAND, WHAT ABOUT THE SUBWAYS, WHAT ABOUT THE GRAFFITI, WHAT ABOUT CYRUS'S SPEECH!? I CAN'T DIG IT!
This is the worst idea ever, why remake the warriors. No movie has ever come close to it since, and like all remakes it is going to be dreadful.Ok Tony Scott might be a good director, but not even his best films have come close to topping the atmosphere, and character of the original film. I see this as a shallow way to make money, and can only have a negative impact on the original, and its cult audience.
Maybe they just goin faggot.Trying to recreate is impossible, though if its true that its only loosely based on the film and reasonably unrelated, why not call it something else!! That will prevent trying to compare with a masterpiece and could still send a good message of loyalty etc. Hey, I could dig that!
For the love of God! Don't you film makers realise we want new films with original ideas?! The Original is a cult classic and no amount of $ will make this better than the original. The remake will BOMB! You've been warned.
Good Lord! Has MTV not ruined enough things yet? Now they have to go and ruin "The Warriors," MTV is one orginization the world would be a lot better off without. All of their programs are terrible and they are only getting worse.
I just think it is FABULOUS that this remake is happening. MTV will do a SUPERB job, just like ALL of their quality programming! With all the remakes these days, can you believe no one thought of this sooner? Two words: Pure Genius!
Even here in Australia, this film was considered to be one of the first films that made a lot of late '70s and early '80s kids sit up and take notice. It actually affected the way we looked out for each other."The Warriors" and "The Wanderers" were films that gave us some of the ideas about mateship and loyalty that we didn't get from, mostly, broken homes and hanging out on the streets. I can still remember so clearly how much those films blew us away. Sweet memories. Kids today can have their American pie/middle class yuppie crap if they want. Or film makers can give them something that relates to THEM. Leave my Warriors alone. They still live on in people like me: I'm 40 years old now, but I still believe in the Warriors way. Don't fuck with the Warriors (or the Wongs:).
In the theatre world, which I'm more familiar with, restaging an old play *can* be interesting, especially if the director tries to do something different with the original: exploring new ideas, exploding the assumptions of the original text, and so on. Like a feminist Taming of the Shrew, for a really lame example. Alternatively, one can try to be as "faithful" to the original as possible. Both of these options can succeed or fail, depending on the talent of the director and his/her team.
But Tony Scott will adopt neither of these approaches with this film. Warriors is not one of the "funniest movies EVER," as another petitioner has written, It may be cheesy in parts, but frankly, I'll take cheese over post-90s minimalism on most days, at least when it comes to rock and flicks. The cinematography is amazing, the colours and costumes awesome (like a moving comic book!), the characters neither all-good or all-evil, the "love interest" more like affectionate lust (I bet THAT relationship will have a huge focus in the new version... who's gonna play Swan?), the "male bonding" is genuine, and there is a plethora of great quotations (You alright, lady?; That's high math for Rembrandt, etc.). Shit, it even has a character called Rembrandt! And Vermin! And Cochise! Cowboy, Ajax. Man! Great names!
Anyway, when I first heard they were gonna make a PS2 game based on he Warriors, I was partly excited, but also partly perplexed. Now it's all clear. More media convergence/synergy. Video games made to sell movies, and vice versa. In short, this remake is gonna blow. You can't separate it from the time/place/context it was made and have it work in the same way.
As for remaking the original Star Wars trilogy because we have "better tech" now, like someone below suggests, that's goofy. Puppets and models beat CGI any day, any time, for any purpose. CGI Jabba? Crap. CGI Yoda? Worse. CGI Star Destroyer
This movie is my favorite movie of all time. Recreating it, I don't want it to be horrible. This really upsets me when I heard it was going to be remade.
I'm in 2 minds, i'd never actually thought about anyone remaking this film, i can't work out if its a gud or bad thing..tho i am in favour of the "if it aint broke, don't fix it" logic. The warriors is and will remain a true great and we have that, and that's all that matters...isn't it?
I haven't seen the original. Never even heard of it. Wyoming isn't really on the map either tho so... you gotta understand. i don't want them to make this remake because i am sick of remakes. go me.
Please, please, please don't sully the memory of this amazing movie. They're already about to butcher The Wicker Man, not this too. The Warriors is a film of its time which no temporary equivalent could match. You want an alternative? How about a theatrical re-release: introduce a new generation to a nerve-shattering piece of cinema. If it's just money you have in mind, and I know it is, this will work for you without any remake production expenses.
The whole point of the film being so fascinating is that it WAS set in a time when NYC wasn't so safe. A remake will only ruin the whole experience of the story.
the greatest film ever made, and that is why they are remaking it, But will not be anything the original is.
you lot are'nt gonna stop them from making it but fair play anyway i can see where your coming from.
so if there is a new one made are you not gonna wanna see it?
For the love of all that is holy PLEASE don't ruin one of the greatest movies in history. Rerelease it or something if you want to get it out to the "MTV" generation but don't fu*k this up so every kid under 25 thinks this new piece of crap is The Warriors and never sees the real movie.
up to now i've been content to do no more than sneer and sigh at this current epidemic of remake-itis that hollywood's going through. but now it's personal: these cats are f-ing with THE WARRIORS!!! tony scott, if you turn this into another jejeune cgi wo ping-choreographed hyper-edited popcorn cooker you better hire bodyguards, fool! i'll catch you outside paramount studios with a crew full of bat-wielding cats dressed like mimes and beat you down to your bone gristle! think i'm bluffing? okay, maybe i am. but consider this: think of how many hardcore bloods and crips there in LA and how many of those cats worship that flick. you desecrate it and i'll cruise through south central in a drop-top shouting hate propaganda out of a megaphone.
f--k mimes, fool- how bout ten thousand bangers in blue and red with your license plate number written on their hand after i post it online.? think about it you TOP GUN-directing hack!
Yeah, this seems like a great idea! But ya'll NEED to make this movie completely in BULLET TIME, or whatever it's called, like The Matrix, but.... ALL THE TIME. That would be so cool! All slo-mo and cameras spinning like there's no tomorrow. And all the current hit songs too! Yeah! That would be soooo underground of you guys... And cool scenes like someone sayin' "motherfucker" before blowin' someones head clean off. 'Cause that's cool. Really cool. That's the American way of cool. That's the Hollywood way of cool. Hey, it's the Columbine way of cool, too. How could that go wrong? I mean, it's cool. Right? Words such as "motherfucker" is hip, right?! And y'all need to put Halle Berry in it too, as Catwoman, 'cause Catwoman was a great movie, wasn't it? A mindblowing success, I would imagine...
No... but seriously, you people need to get Mammon's cock out of your mouths and start writing your own original scripts. EARN YOUR MONEY, THIEVES!
We do not accept this remake.
Not one single movie remake in recent years has turned out to be anything but an insult to the original and it's fans. Haven't you people NOTICED that every time a classic is about to be remade, usually by someone who has no connection to the spirit of the original and what made it great in the first place, it's us, THE FANS, that protest against it, who refuse to pay money to see it, who do our best to keep others for paying money to see it. What does that tell you...? Respect us, and the original movie, and just leave it alone. We do not want a remake. But these remakes are never about us, the fans, or about paying tribute to the originals, now are they?
Why mess with a perfectly good thing? Hollywood is running out of fresh ideas so they have to rehash old movies. Come on Hollywood, get your imaginations working again. Stop remaking everything and messing it all up!!
Yo I'm about to be more vocal about this subject ,than anyone, cause we are not just talking about a movie here??
THIS IS THE WARRIORS !!!
YA KNOW!!!
This is more than just a movie to me,it's about life to me..it's about the STRUGGLE MAN,what the hell do these Hollywood Cats know about this??
This is too real for them, this is to gully for them!!
And now you wanna make a remake about THE WARRIORS??
tHIS IS ABOUT BROTHERHOOD man..This is Blood to me,..
This is my movie..about my neighborhood..and yo,I'll be dam if Hollywood try 's to do a New York Movie and than go to Canada and front ,like it's New York? !!! YO CANNOT FOOL A FAN!!!! CAUSE I"LL KNOW IN A SECOND THAT THIS MOVIE WAS NOT FILMED HERE.. YA BETTER SHOOT THIS IN NEW YORK,AND NOT IN CANADA LIKE YA ALL DID FOR THE FANTASTIC FOUR,and yeah,we all know that it's going to suck too..
Brothers can you hear me??,HOLLA BACK...
you'd think that it's bad enough that they are re-making it, but it gets worse; (e)M(p)T(y)V is at the helm. WTF does Tony Scott know about this genre?
Learn yor lesson film industry, remakes are never as good as the origional. The best way to make money is coming up with a worthwhile idea to push the artform in a new directions. Not swimming around in the same small circles.
Seriously people, these remakes must stop, ie. Dawn of the Dead, Assault on preceint 134, and now the class the Warriors. MTV does not know anything about The Warriors and thats how it should remain. The film is a cult classic and it should not be messed with. I mean making a rockstar game is one thing but a full movie remake are you serious?!?! How appuling this is...
Warriors Fans: "why did u do it? why u making the remake?
Tony Scott: "No Reasson I just doin things like dat"
Warriors Fans: "Same answer we are gonna give u when we catch ya and pop a cap in ur ass mutha fucker"
MONEY HUNGRY PRICKS GO CREATE AND MAKE YOUR OWN MOVIE
Come on! Why another flippin remake? First Man on Fire, then Assault On Precint 134, now this?
How can MTV remake the Warriors? That means it's gonne be PG-13, lots of stupid kung fu (which I am sooo tired of seeing in movies), horrible music nothing but teen idols and probably no "real" harcore foul language. I mean, every other word out of Ajax's mouth was a swear word or the derogatory word for homosexual. MTV will make it apealing to all audiences and turn it into crap.
This is one of the many cult classic films that should not be touched, ever. If MTV makes this it will just be a 2 hour commerical for consumer goods and top 20 music with those annoying teen idols palced in every other movie today and they don't belong there. The original was perfect and to this day still has impact today when i show it to my roomates here at college. This abortion of a film project must be stopped.
The game I think will be very very cool, but this classic deserves better than an Mtv-teenflick...
There better be a good explanation for not calling their buds with a cellphone, wich everybody has nowadays...

The Warriors SHOULD NOT be touched. The remake will be a hot mess of nonsense for teenie-boppers who werent there when the real gangs of the NYC 70s were around who dont understand anything...STOP THIS MOVIE!!!
We all know what they will do to this film, and we can imagine what they will do to ruin the original. We need to keep this kind of trash from hitting the film, because the next thing we will see is Ashton Kutcher and Dax Shephard trying to look tough amidst PG-13 violence and a bunch of "yo-yo" and more modern stupidity that is the current gang world. This is a film that should be left alone.
The Warriors has lost none of its impact it had on the fans over the last 20 years. So why bother re-making it, also its good to see so many other people love this film aswell.
/PLEASE/ don't remake this film. It's a frickin' classic. "I seen him 'cause he wasn't there no mo', I was haulin' ass."
NOBODY WILL PULL THAT LINE OFF BETTER, EVER.
You know there have been some good remakes such as The Thing, The Italian Job and The Magnificent Seven.
But...
MTV films, I am doing the Exorsist hurl of green pea soup right now.
I loved the first Warriors when I saw it at a much younger age and was impressed by the story, the violence and the myth behind it. The myth I am talking about is that someone walked out of the theatre and inspired by the movie killed someone.
This should not just be about this movie but MTV should be stopped from making any movie of any kind.
MTV films? Tony Scott? This petition prolly wont stop them, theyll make it, and cast michelle rodriguez in her usual tough grrrl role, ruining the movie, all the while adding a numetal soundtrack, over the classic synth-funk music, adding martial arts instead of down and dirty street fighting, and probably making it pg13, killing the gritty ever so violent tone of the original...Tony Scott i have lost respect for you, walter hill is spinning in his grave.
