Cancel the external festivities in Xaghra

In light of the tragedy which struck Gozo last Sunday (05.09.2010), in which six people (including a baby) died, whilst one is in grave danger of dying, we the undersigned believe that the external festivities of the village feast of Xaghra should be cancelled.
We find the decision to go on with the external festivities insulting and irresponsible, mostly because the fireworks, which were the cause of all the tragedy, were after all destined for the same feast in question.
Therefore, whilst condemning the decision to go on with the Xaghra Feast, we call upon the competent authorities, and insist on stopping all external festivities, in respect of the victims, and their respective families.
