Whereas the university administration does not have absolute authority to establish courses and allocate resources unilaterally.

This case exposes the contradiction between the higher and higher costs of education paid by students via tuition and ancillary fees, and the declining quality of the post-secondary education experience. Why should students accept to pay more to get less?

as a community participant of Denis Rancourt's Activism Course, a university graduate (Journalism '81, Carleton), and an ODSP recipient living on benefits which are below the Canadian poverty level, i support these students' law suit vs. the University of Ottawa, because i witnessed firsthand the lack of TA support in the Fall 2006 course. i'm an social activist in the community, advocating: the continuing city support for the Community Bus Pass Program [which is in jeopardy, thanks to mayor O'Brien and other members of city council]; affordable housing initiatives; homeless and low-income actions; and other social justice issues.

One of the most important mandates of a university is the promotion of the public good. This course is a huge step in promoting this often neglected mandate and thus should be adequately supported with the correct number of TAs. Tuition keeps rising yet the quality of the education declines, this course is an example of how to redress this problem.

SCI1101 is possibly the most important class offered. It teaches real skills that we desperately need in today's society.

everybody should be heard - especially a university's administration - a popular course coarse should be respected - not ignored like the U. of O. is doing

Universities should be accountable to those who provide its lifeblood (ie: the students and their tuition dollars). Transparency and accountability are key if trust and faith are to be maintained, and if they are not maintained, why should the students devote their time and prime life-years to such a place?

The university as it stands is a business that invests in advertising but not customer satisfaction. If our students cannot demand satisfaction in the legal system, what hope is there for quality education in the university? I support this action fully.
