In march 2009, it was decided that due to the hard econimic times the movies of his dark materials will be canceled, and there will be no sequal to the golden compass. i think it is a disgrace as the movie did great in the box office outside america and earned twice what it cost to make. This is yet another example of the greed of the movie industry

I support this petition. as i am a film maker and have thoroughly enjoyed the books, Golden compass had the idea but lacked the special something to make it special, I would have considered Dream works to make it however, I managed to find the last 10 minutes of the golden compass and they Decieded to put it into a video game, WHAT WERE THEY THINKING they had the actors just right but if they bought the subtle knife WOW, this will be an oscar winner for sure

I support this petition. The trilogy is an excellent work of fiction and should continue to be realized on screen. A lot of people I spoke to loved the film after seeing it, and the books as well. The problem with the box office revenue and DVD sales was directly related to the poor advertising of the film\'s plot where instead it focused on the fact that Nicole Kidman was playing in it. While a wonderful attribute Nicole Kidman can be to a film, the focus should remain solely on the story, not the name of actors.
