With them the ensemble was seamless. They both filled interesting character niches that will take months for other actors to work into. I think that they should at least qualify for the same salary as the stars of "Friends" which was only a half hour show. Do you really want "I was the person who Fired Jorja Fox and George Eads" to be your signature on the tombstone of this show?
Ensemble n. A unit or group of complementary parts that contribute to a single effect.
So tell me, CBS, which part of that don't you follow? While you push William Petersen and Marg Helgenberger as the stars of the show, it doesn't change the fact that this is an ensemble cast show and the loss of two integral parts of it is going to upset the balance. Give George and Jorja the pay rises they so badly deserve for their exceptional work. I'm sure it won't put too big a dent in your profit margin.
Csi will never be the same at all. Even if CBS gets repleacements. I've seen first hand on other greatly watched shows that get replacements; they end up loosing viewers!
Rehire those actors back! Part of the magic of CSI is the wonderful cast and how they interact with each other. Recasting those roles with other actors or creating new characters will have a detrimental effect on the show.
On the Canadian CBC network, Hockey Night In Canada was a very popular Saturday night hockey pregame show. The network wanted to get rid of the host over contract disputes, but the fans reacted so much that the network and the host sat down and worked out a contract. You CBS producers should do the same. Discuss options with Eads and Fox, but keep them on the show!
CBS, you need another #1 show, besides reality TV, and Jorga and George are worth the money. This show will peter out and die without every one of the established characters. Resign Jorga and George and throw in a signing bonus. It's not like you can't afford it with what this show makes. In fact, give the entire cast a big raise because quality shows are rare on Network TV. So unless you want to lose all the viewers to Cable, do what's best for the show, the actors and what the fans want.
Thank you.
OMG! they are the best on the show! U HAVE TO KEEP THEM! you cant get better. you are gonna ruin the show by doing this!!!! bring them back or i stop watching!
The show would not be the same without these two and I seriously doubt that I would invest time in getting to know their replacements. They are important to the fans, the people who watch the show and bring in ad revenue and such to actually make the network MONEY, and that should be the most important thing!
To CBS Execs,
I have to say this is a bad move on your part. CSI is a highly loved and watched series by many age groups, and to rock the boat by drastically changing the show by firing two talented and wonderful actors shows that one, you have poor judgement and two, you don't really care about your viewing audience. Tsk...tsk...makes me want to go to your competitors to watch good programing. Bring back both Jorja and George.
You MUST keep these two on CSI. It would ruin the show I love if they were gone. I feel you would loose many fans young and old if you didn't take them back. CSI will never be the show I watched with my grandma if Fox and Eads are not starring in it.
you are going to mess up a real good thing if you break up this great cast. and im sure that i am 1 of many who will no longer watch CSI if jorja and george are gone
CSI is the number one show in America, and a continuous growth in other countries and you fired two of the best actors because they wanted a pay increase? It's just awful that such a great show will soon be down at the bottom of the ratings come fall. The show won't be the same without Jorja and George, too bad the CEO's of CBS can't see that.
These brilliant actors did not deserve to be let go for any reason at all. Without them, CSI is nothing, and I will not continue to watch, nor will millions of other fans of the show. This will only cause problems and cause your ratings to go down by letting Jorja and George go. Maybe you should rethink your decision.
CBS producers have lost their damn minds. I live for CSI and now I know that it will sink to the bottom Hard!! I will never watch any CBS TV again as will all the other true CSI fans. CBS will be eating S*&^ when the people's chice and the Emmys come around and all the other networks leave them in the dust!! From now on, when people look to CBS for respect, then I'm sure they'll be beating the doors down to get OUT!!! OUT where there really is such a thing away from CBS!!!!
Perhaps instead of going off on a third CSI adventure, you should consider paying the stars of the original who made the entire franchise possible. Or perhaps you don't care what the fans think.
How could you fire them? This is one of the only shows I watch now and Sara is my favorite character. Jorja isone of my fave actresses. How dare you fire them.
There should never been any harm in asking for a raise. As usual, people have to mess with a good thing. This show is a bloody gold mine - and they have to pull this crap - My household won't be watching it without Geroge & Jorja.
CBS, I am a huge George Eads fan. Without George CSI will not be the same. Jorja is an awsome actress that is a great role model. I am a huge CSI fan and have not missed and episode since it premiered in 2000. From now until the time you bring George and Jorja back, I am boycotting your show. All of them, I am not even going to see what CSI:NY is like. I just turned off a rerun of CSI on Spike.I am going to refuse to buy any more of your merchendise, or anything that is associated with CSI. Bring them back, even if they do not get a pay raise.(I find that to be a outragious reason to fire someone. Just work it out. They all deserve a pay raise and I know you have enough money to do so.) I hope you know what you have done you have lost millions of fans, and billions of dollars. Come on do you really want to do that?
I will not watch CSI or any other CBS show. I'm going back to good ol' ER and maybe Joey, and a little bit of The Donald...oh, and by the way, I'm in the 18-35 dempgraphic.
These are integral characters to the show, and by cutting them you're losing a huge group of fans. Please rthink about this!!
*stares speechless and slack-jawed at computer screen* Are you f@#%@^g KIDDING me??? The only TV shows dealing with criminal investigation that are entirely case-driven are shows like City confidential and the other shows like that on A&E. Shows like CSI and Crossing Jordan and CSI: Miami work because of the cast; the plot - investigating murders and kidnappings and whatever other cases they get - is part of the reason why people watch the show, but it's only part of it. The characters, actors who portray those characters, and especially the chemistry between those actors and actresses is what seals the deal and keeps people watching, never mind the dialogue and underlying interaction between the characters. CSI, like so many other TV shows with an ensemble cast, is held up by the characters, though the viewers make up the foundation. If you take away one character, the whole structure becomes unstable; if you replace that character with another, the situation might become better, if the viewers like the character, or it might collapse entirely, because the viewers feel too betrayed to continue watching because a couple of their favorite characters were axed from the show and it was handled so horribly the show holds no appeal anymore. If What Stacey says is true - and Jorja and George were fired because they asked for more money - why the F&CK *NOT* give it to them? If The WB's Alyssa Milano can get $80,000 an episode, as of 2001, for Charmed, a show that is no where near as well known as CSI, as well as being on a much younger station that undoubtedly doesn't make as much money as CBS. The fact that they're willing to boot two of the more well-known, popular actors from the show just proves that the execs at CBS or whoever it is that controls who's hired and fired and ok's the paychecks is a money-grubbing, penny pinching rat b*stard. When it comes to running a TV show, money shouldn't be a factor, and especially not at the risk of the
The dynamic among the cast members in CSI Las Vegas is what carries the show and distinguishes it from the somewhat lackluster ensemble of CSI Miami. Please keep in mind that your viewers have formed an invested interest in these characters over the last four years, and without them your viewers are liable to look elsewhere. I sincerely hope the money you save by firing them is worth the potential loss of viewers as well.
I'm tired with those producers firing actors. It's time people say something and actually act upon their decision by boycotting the serie and their spin-offs (Miami and New York).
i can not believe this if they get new actors the show is goin to suck like csi miami those people cant act for crap exspecialy the blonde one bring them back
CBS - BAD decision! Sara and Nick are integral parts of the show and can in no way be considered merely 'supporting cast'! The show will NOT be the same without them, no matter how you decide to proceed! As you can already tell, they have a HUGE fan following and they will continue to do so even if they don't return to CSI -- however, lots of fans will stop watching the show all together with no George or Jorja! Please realize the horrible mistakes made and bring them back! We
The news of the firing really shocked me, and I'm sure a lot of other CSI fans also felt as shocked as I was. The two actors and the character their playing has been a major part of the reason why I watched the show. Sara Sidle with all her quirk and problems and her unique relationship with the main character of the show, Gil Grissom is one of the reason the show keeps me interested. Nick also has been an integral part of the team, and losing both these actors/character will damaged this awesome show.
Another stupid move by clueless networks. Once again the network thought only of themselves and not the viewers that pay their bills. These were excellent actors that brought a lot to the show. As for them asking for more money.. what is wrong with that. I do that also. They have a right to ask for more if the show is doing well. Whats the problem with that? The CEO of CBS going to lose out on his big fat bonus???
CBS is stupid if they think they can simply replace them. A show, even a formulaic one, won't work without a solid cast. This is especially disheartening knowing that Peterson isn't too happy either. I wouldn't be surprised if the ratings drop.
Tossing out two of the main (and most complex) characters on a number one hit show realy makes little sense. I trust the powers at CBS will have the presence of mind to "rethink" this mistake!
CBS just lost tons of fans because of this stupid move. I'm sure if they had tried they could have made an agreement with Jorja and George. CBS is too proud and they need to beg for them back.
I am so shocked and saddened by this news. I think that they should have there jobs back. They do a lot for the show and getting rid of them will really kill the ratings.
Love ya J and G
What were they thinking when firing two of the main characters of their number one show? Maybe they were not thinking...
I feel very upset about something that has become has part of my life. Something where you can escape reality. If we can't even have that...
CSI isn't CSI anymore without George and Jorja. If you think you can just replace them and hope that we'll still watch, I think you are wrong.
Bring back Jorja and George
I am shocked and appalled that CBS would be so incredibly stupid to fire two stars of their NUMBER ONE show. They are truly idiots who need to pull their heads out of their ass and beg for both Jorja and George back.
I cannot believe CBS has been so stupid as to take what is their best show, if not the best show in prime-time, and gut the cast! Bring back Eads and Fox - or lose me and a LOT of other viewers.
I had to just turn off the repeat of CSI on SpikeTV. It made me sick to know that I will never again enjoy the cast I have come to love. Kudos to the producers of CSI and CBs for taking away what small pleasure I had.
I can't believe they did this! I am an avid Jorja Fox and George Eads fan. I love Grissom and Sara relationship and if Sara's not there..I petition the show! Without them..there's no CSI!!!!!! One thing I don't understand is..the Friends cast when they wanted more money they negotiated they didn't get fired for it! CSI was and is more popular than Friends! BRING THEM BACK NOW!!!!!
Firing George and Jorja would be one of the biggest mistakes CBS could ever make. What they have with CSI is a perfect combination of actors. Taking away the characters of Nick and Sara would only hurt the show. What do we have when they're gone? CSI:Miami...and we know that's horrible! The show will plummet...and end with only four good seasons and MAYBE two dragging ones. The characters are way too important to the 'flow' of the show! Rehire them! Or lose millions (yes, millions) of viewers! Including me and all of the people I know!
It is a serious lack of judgement on the part of CBS to discharge such charismatic thespians such as Ms Jorja Fox and Mr.George Eads. I sincerely hope you will reconsider this decision and that CBS realizes that the consequences to the programs popularity will be dire.
CSI will not be the same without Jorja and George - and I believe that CBS will feel the effects of this stupid move where it matters most - in their pocketbooks. Its a shame that everything comes down to money these days. I don't want to watch CSI anymore with no Nick or Sara.
If these two wonderful actors are not allowed to come back to CSI than I will not continue to watch or purchase anything having to do with CSI (includes spinoffs). This is a terrible thing that has happened to a great show. I support Jorja and George all the way!!!
I'm 69 years old and started watching CSI because my daughter watches it.I have since fallen in love with George.I feel you are making a huge error in judgement as he is a huge draw to the show.Plus you broke my daughter's heart by releasing George.
Gee, I guess you have no interest in your ratings. The stories aren't that good, the CSI shows are character driven and taking Sara and Nick out of the mix will ruin the show, especially with William Petersen planning to leave at the end of the year. You have a top rated show but not for long if you loose 3 of the major characters in the space of a year.
I thought when you worked hard in any field and been successful that the way in which you were rewarded was by receiving a pay increase. CBS should rehire these fine entertainers.
