I understand the need for the networks to watch the bottom line as far as making money. But by firing these two you are going to condem the show. There is now way I will remain a viewer if you don't bring them back. And I am certain I am not alone.
This is a travesty. Critics of Jorja and George need to realize that actor pay is relative to the money brought to the network, etc. CSI is one of the most profitable shows on television between ad revenue, merchandise sales, and syndication. If the actors that MAKE the show want a raise, don't be hypocritical. This is a dazzling display of acting before you think. This show is lost without its cast.
It has been demonstrated in no uncertain terms that the wishes of those of us who watch CSI - and who buy the products made by the sponsors who make the show possible - mean absolutely nothing. With the removal of these actors and/or their characters, you remove my incentive for watching, and thus my motivation for sitting through the ads that accompany the show. I can only see that this spells a loss of one sort or other for all involved - and all over a comparitively small amount of money and a "threat" that clearly never existed.
The axing of Jorja and George is a quick, easy way to alienate fans and send them running to other shows and other networks. It's worth a little more money to keep these great actors on the show. Each has a very devoted fan base... all the more people watching the show, buying the advertiser's products, CSI DVDs, games, etc. Please do the smart thing and hire them back! Thank you very much.
Why in the WORLD would you want to fire Jorja and George??? The ratings are going to go way down, and you have absolutely no reason to do this. As many others said: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
If you fir them, along with william guiting the show is going to fall apart, ratings will plumet and shhon CSI will be CANCELD!!!!!!!! we cant let that happen
Removing these two actors from this exceptional show will only destroy it, and possibly the other two CSI spin-offs as well (which are nothing to brag about). Keep the ONE good, cohesive cast you have IF you can persuade these two important members to return. I would find it hard to blame them if they told CBS and Moonves where to go and PRECISELY how to get there.
By making such a rash decision you're pretty much telling your viewers you couldn't care less about them. As others have indicated it seems to be more about control and that leaves a really bad taste in my mouth… it's turning me off the CBS network all together. I just hope you are all prepared for the fall-out over this situation.
Im a dutch fan of the show. The show inspires me to work as a csi. So keep up the good work and dont argue about stupid things theres more to life than money. Give them what they want cause they made the show and they can bring it down!!! Act normal Les Moonves!!!! Think before you act!!
I have to admit, I hardly ever watch TV, but I religously sit down each week to watch the new episodes of CSI and I own all of the DVD's. CSI is a fascinating show, and part of what make people enjoy it so much is that they really connect with the characters. These are very talented actors! You are making a huge mistake by letting them go.
Ok, I admit, I've never seen the show because I don't watch television very often. But my friend really wants me to sign this, so I am, because I'm cool like that.
CBS you are being completely mental! You have a good thing going and if you get rid of the dynamics that the cast has by keeping George and Jorja fired, not only will you screw up one of the best drama's on TV today, but you'll screw up the show permantley. George and Jorja may be the younger kids on the show, playing CSI Sara Sidle and Nick Stokes, but both have key elements that they add to the show through their characters. They are contractually obligated and they can take you to court. Too bad us fans can't. You gave in to Everybody Love Raymond...WELL GUESS WHAT YOU MORONIC NEANDERTHALS EVERYONE LOVES CSI, take the heart away and it will die. Some would say that Petersen is the heart, but I disagree, its the younger cast members because they aren't as detatched as Grissom is. Ratings will go down for not only CSI but possibly other shows as a sign of boycott. So get your head out of your arse and rehire them before you really do something stupid.
PS. If they don't return, I too am not watching it any more. I'll buy seasons 1-4 on DVD and be happy with my Jorja and George moments!
This is one of the few truly excellent shows on commercial television. The very fact that you are having to defend your move to the public has to tell you that you've made a serious error in judgement. It is pointless to destroy an excellent show over a relatively small amount of money per episode. It's time to do what makes sense - keep the cast of this show together.
It's a good show, and now you want to change it? WHY? You made a mistake - suck it up, fix it, and everybody will be happy. Hang onto your pride, and everybody loses - your choice, but I know which one I'D choose.
This is clearly not a pay issue, but a control issue. You got worried about a walk-out, and over-reacted. Do what's right, and keep these actors on this fine show as it exists. Otherwise, everybody loses.
CSI is my new obsession, but I won't watch if I don't think I can trust CBS to make good decisions. Suck it up and pay them what they deserve for being on the #1 show or suffer the consequences.
I will stop watching CSI. I love both characters in conjunction with the other cast members. You are making loads of money and you are being cheap. Unless they come back I am no longer watching.
Mr, Moonves,
I have watched CSI from day one and would like to say that I am deeply upset at your actions in firing George Eads and Jorga Fox. Do not think that it will be easy to replace their characters or to add more script time for the characters of Greg or Det Brass. It will not make up for the removal of two vital characters. As great as Greg Sanders and Detective Brass are, they will never hold a candle to Jorja and George. Jorja and George bring a chemistry to the show and us fans were hopeing to see where this chemistry leaded in future episodes. Please do not destroy a fabulous show because of spitefulness. You gave Mr Garret of Everybody Loves Raymond a second chance so please give these two wonderful actors another. I am sure they deeply regret their actions taken. Please let the remainder of CSI's three years be as extraordinary as the first ones. A CSI without Sarah and Nick will never be possible ,as many fans will not watch them anymore including CSI Miami and New York. Why should I watch the other CSI's so that in a few years I can see lead characters sacked because of money issues!
Thanks
We need to go after the sponsors. Then CBS will lose precious money. Let's watch this week and make a list of the commercials and e-mail the companies.
The show wouldn't be the same without them! Bringing in new characters is stupid, we're only just getting to see Sara and Nick's in more detail. Bring them back!
This is the same **** they did to the three stooges. Sign them to a long contract and when it hits big give them the shaft. CBS is making a killing on this series, you know what there commercial airtime goes for?!!
Every week, I and 25 million others watch this show, because of the talented actors and their chemistry with one another. Removing even one of these actors is like taking the heart out of the show. CBS, I beg you, to stop making excuses about your greediness and show these acotrs that you support their hard-work that they have indebted to you over the past five years. Show them you, as well as the viewers appreciate the great acting we see everyweek. Peanuts are for elephants not actors! God is on your side Jorja and George, including me too!
P.S. Glad I haven't bought Season 3 yet!
Mr. Moonves, you say this is "just business". Well, it may be just business to you, but it is entertainment to us. The fans will not stand for your attitude. If you think tv is just business, than you are in the wrong business.
this was a huge mistake. the show will not be the same without these two. CBS should definetly bring bavk George and Jorja. i think the raitngs will drop if they are not on the show.
Terrible news. Why should we watch any of your Thursday night shows if you are going to act this way? I guess it's Joey or the OC instead of Survivor, and Will & Grace instead of CSI, and ER instead of Without a Trace. Mr. Moonves, you reap what you sow.
No one can EVER replace George and Jorga. Giving extra hours to Eric and Paul will certainly not make any difference, it will still not be the same. Eric and Paul have been there since day 1, but Eric looks good ONLY as a Lab guy, and Paul is just a detective. The ratings will certainly drop, no matter how hard you try to improve on the story line. Please reconsider and rehire George and Jorga. They make CSI. Without them there's no CSI. Don't really care much about the other cast members, but all 5 of them do compliment each other.
I cannot believe CBS has done this. I will have to find something else to watch. I cannot stand CSI Miami and don't have high hopes for NY. CBS what have you done??? This is a travesty that you would do this to a #1 show. Bring back George and Jorja!!!
I will stop watching my favourite show EVER if they don't bring them back!! CSI the original is the best show! I hate miami, and NYC version is going to suck!
I will not watch the show if they are not one it anymore. Getting rid of any cast member ruins the show. It is impossible to have a good show without them. I love CSI and it is my favorite tv show but i will not watch if they are not on the next season.
Jorja and George were in it from the beginnig and helped set this show apart. YOU are not only being unfair but showing disrepect for what they've done for the franchise. Please continue the negotiations.
Jorja plays my favourite female character on tv. I refuse to watch CSI, the CSI spin-offs, or, frankly, ANY CBS show ever again if these firings hold up.
They have been with CSI from the beginning, and it won't be the same lab without them!!
There's no harm in trying to be paid for what you're worth. And if they felt that they were being shorted, then they had every right to ask for more money. What kind of example does this set, when you stand up to be heard and you're fired for it!! It's one thing if they say no and you quit, but totally different to just ask and be fired for you efforts!!
