I think this policy is ridculous! Most of the books sold here are not books used in the public education system. If some one had done there research you would know this! I think the policy needs to be done away with. You are hurting home educators who have the right to buy used books for private use.
I support this petition. As a homeschooling family who relies on ebay to purchase my curriculum, I am astounded that I will not be able to for the coming year.
I am a homeschool parent, and even though I haven't ever purchased any thing from Ebay, I feel it is discrimination not to allow other parents to try and sell their past years curriculum on their site. We as homeschoolers are not all wealthy and I personally am always looking for a bargain. Curriculum is NOT cheap!! And I don't think we should be punished for wanting to educate our children. If there ARE kids out there trying to cheat, do we REALLY believe they are going to go through the trouble of trying to find out exactly what editions, publishers, etc. that the teaher is using, and spend their OWN money, JUST to get a better grade on a test?! And IF there are kids out there doing that, it is their own concious they will have to contend with. Those types of children will cheat no matter what. Please don't take true homeschoolers option of sharing curr. packages with other homeschoolers!!!
I support this petition. It is ridiculous to believe that eBay is the cause of parents and students cheating. The practice is milleniums older than ebay. Amazing that they are turning down revenue for such a ridiculous reason. Very not thought out....
It is not Ebay's responsibility to worry about who might be buying curriculum related teacher's manuals... nor for what purpose. There is nothing immorral, indecent, nor illegal about buying or selling curriculum. Anyone with the money to do so, can purchase curriculum--including teachers manuals--from any store or mail order site. This includes minors who may be wanting to cheat. But common sense dictates that the percentage of students who might or have done this are extremely low. Get real--cheat sheets would be a whole lot easier and cheaper! You are not the parent(s) of everyone else's child/children. You are not the administration of all the schools. And most importantly, you are not God, judge, nor jury. In other words, this sounds like a personal attack against homeschooling and those who most buy these materials... the homeschooling parents. Does Ebay REALLY want to go there?
i am an active ebay customer. this is blatant bigotry against homeschoolers. most if not all of the teachers manuals are specifically made for the homeschool so if our students were to buy them to cheat we the teacher/parent would know about it! this is quite an ignorant policy. how many PUBLIC or even PRIVATE schools are selling teachers editions on ebay?? Also, these "contraband" teachers editions are readily available from the publisher.
really guys - not too smart.
