There are always going to be people that try to cheat at everything. We can't punish everyone for this. If you think about it we are all cheating by using ebay. We are cheating the stores from making sales by purchasing things at a lower price. In the end, parents are responsible for their own children and should know what they are purchasing. Thanks
I buy and sell and regularly on Ebay, and I find this policy on teacher's editions, even HOMESCHOOL teacher's editions, to be very frustrating. Please change your policy to allow homeschoolers to purchase the parent (teacher) edition for our families. I usually buy at least half of my curriculum for the year on Ebay, and then I am reselling it on Ebay when I am done with it. You are losing a lot of money with this policy!
Ebay was once a wonderful place to sell/buy my children's homeschooling books. I just found out recently about the no TE rule. WOW, where is it going to stop..There are so many other items on ebay (movies, games, guns parts, knives, computers that could and are being sold to kids) Kids that have their parents ebay info or even their own account. Oh well, off to search for other places to buy my books.
Selling my previous
year homeschool books on eBay has enabled me to purchase next years books. Please allow me to continue to sell my teacher's editions.
Hmmm..ebay assumes social responsibility for possible cheaters (how many ebay buyers fall into this category anyway!)yet ignores the sales of violent movies, music & video games that plague our nation's youth. Amazing.
Please do not police your buyers. You are not culpable if someone uses things they buy through eBay in an illegal or immoral manner. And you're hurting the legitimate sale of used curriculum by legitimate sellers to legitimate buyers because of the perceived actions of a few.
Many people in this country choose to homeschool their children. I have found ebay to be an excellent source for new/used books. I would hate to see teacher edition materials blocked. People who wish to cheat will find a way to cheat, banning the sale of teacher edition textbooks is not going to deter them.
Many homeschool parents rely on being able to sell their used materials in order to help pay for next year's curriculum. By banning the sale of educational materials, you are discriminating against homeschool families.
Please carefully consider this petition. You will lose me as a customer if this policy is not changed. I will not participate in ANY way with a company that is prejudice to homeschooling. We have bought and sold many things on EBay, but will not continue to do so while this policy is in force. Thank you.
The homeschool movement is a sizeable force and I would think you would want to encourage their patronage. Legitimate homeschool teacher's manuals will not be used by students to cheat. They are curriculum guides as well as answer books used under the supervision of purposeful parents and typically diligent students. Please reconsider your policy.
Since you have to be 18 to be a member of ebaY, the only students who would be needing teacher editions to cheat on their classes are college students and third graders from a few states.
Absolutely ridiculous that eBay would ban these. Are Cliff Notes next?
Homeschoolers and parents who want to help their children excel legitimately should be able to find these teacher resources on ebay. I don't see them banning say, Jack Daniels collector bottles because a child might be buying them to get drunk. Being more concerned that a child might actually learn something than doing harm to a child is beyond me.
