As a former public and private school teacher, I liked when my parents had teachers editions so they could understand the concepts and help the children at home. Now, as a Homeschool teacher, I shop on Ebay all the time for my materials.
We have been ebay buyer & sellers since 1995. Fix this policy. We home school and we use ebay to buy and sell all types of curriculum...it is a losing proposition for you to keep this policy.
Thank you. (ebay id 95agg)
eBay is a venue only. But more and more, it's regulating what it's members can sell on the site. I understand handguns and endangered animals but teaching materials? eBay allows the sale of diet supplements, chemicals, and lewd materials to any member without evidence of age. This censorship of educational materials most used by Home School parents is ridiculous. You wanted to sell live pets until your members convinced you otherwise. Who decided selling educational materials was wrong and why has it become eBay's job to enforce nonsensical rules to apply to members who eBay suspects *might* want them for ulterior motives. Ridiculous. Yet another reason to abandon ship at eBay and hope for a viable alternative.
If parents go to the expense and all the time-consuming work to educate their children, I doubt seriously that they would compromise the child's education by cheating. I homeschool my grandson and it would defeat the purpose of preparing him for life by using the books to cheat.
Ebay has been a wonderful way for homeschool families to keep the costs down. We pay our taxes for public schools, but must pay for our own books as well. Please reconsider your policy.
I use your service as a homeschooler to obtain and to sell homeschool curriculum. It will really hurt you as well as thousands of homeschoolers if you maintain this policy.
The state of Texas recognizes homeschools as private schools. As such, home school parents have not only the right, but the obligation to obtain teachers manuals with their educational materials. Ebay's policy ignores the legitimate right of parents to obtain these materials from other home schoolers via their website.
Although I appreciate the fact that you are trying to prevent students from cheating on test, I ask that you remember there is a huge population of Home School parents who buy and sell online. Remember, prohibition did nothing to keep people from drinking. No matter what laws we lay down, if people want to cheat they will cheat. Please don't penalize those of us with legitimate needs.
Sincerely,
Brenda Cavazos
The policy is unreasonable. I am currently watching 25 items for my homeschool classroom and won a bid for books on Sunday. You do still want me as your customer don't you? Ebay is not supposed to be the education police!
Ebay - this is a ridiculous policy that adversely affects my view of ebay. I will be finding other avenues to sell my curriculum online without having to pay your ebay or paypal fees. However, I prefer ebay b/c it's so much easier. Please reverse this policy.
The homeschool movement has been on an incredible rise across the US and has proven to be very successful in educating our children to a higher standard. Not allowing the sale of Teacher's Editions is not only prejudice and judgemental toward homeschool families, it defies common sense. I hope you reconsider your policy or I will be taking my business elsewhere. Thank you.
As a homeschool parent it is important and neccessary to have all the material available to properly educate my children. This policy limits severely this ability to do so. I understand ebay's concern however I do not fell they have the right to be my moral barometer.
I can not believe that ebay would do this. Apparantly you have no idea how homeschooling works or operates. I can not believe the overbearing control and lack of freedom ebay is exhibiting in this bad, bad policy. I have tried to purchase two curriculum sets that have just disappeared with no reason. Now I know the reason. What a waste of my time even looking. Shame on you Ebay! I'm disappointed! There are so many other bad things on ebay that would be far more detrimental for children to get a hold of. Please change this bad policy that is an obvious prejudice to homeschool families.
I am an e-bay seller and buyer. I am also a mother who home schools two children. Your policy makes my choice to home school a little bit harder than it has to be. Please change your policy.
Sometimes our family can only afford to buy curricul if it is used. As home schoolers we t=pay school taxes AND we have to buy all of our schol materials out of our pockets iwthout any refund or tax breads to speak of. Also we are not usually two income households, therefore eBay's policy of not allowing the sale of used teacher's manuals creates a very big hardship for many homeschoolers. Perhaps we will have to start or move to a new website.
HOmeschoolers are always lookingfor a nd trying to sell teacher's manuals. It is not illegal and it is not a hidden agenda for us to do so. To disallow this is to discriminate against homeschoolers in general.
