I do alot of business with E-bay and it would be a shame that this would hurt me as a parent and homeschooler. With out the support from other homeschoolers selling their items, I would find it financially difficult to purchase brand new products for our six home schooled children. Please reverse your decission. Thank you. Phillip Murray Gettysburg, PA

I support this petition. Ebay is a great place to buy used school books and that should include Teacher Edition materials. We, homeschoolers, need the Teacher Manuals. Ebay, please do not take the place of a parent. The parents must monitor what their children buy and if they are cheaters then they will cheat regardless of what Ebay sells or doesn't sell. Thank you.

I have four grandchildren that are homeschooled. Eliminating the exchange of curriculum between homeschool parents seriously endangers the ability of those parents to obtain the needed resources. Buying four differenct age related informational textbooks is an added burden that eBay could ease. Most of these same homeschooling moms are the backbone of the eBay power sellers (excluding large companies who have gotten into the system)

I am a homeschool mom and as such, a "Teacher" as I spend countless hours teaching my daughter a variety of subjects - Language Arts, Math, Science, Spelling, History, etc. It is ridiculous that homeschooling parents are not allowed to sell "Teacher's Edition" teaching manuals. As a homeschool mom, it is important to me to find good deals on materials to stay within a reasonable budget. It is impossible to teach some courses without the aid of teacher's manuals. While I can understand the concern regarding students who may purchase these manuals and possibly cheat, isn't it the parents responsibility to ensure that their children are demonstrating good character and integrity? I find it offensive that an organization, such as Ebay would try to take the place of the responsibility of these parents and thereby disallow the selling of teacher's manuals to those of us who are in need of such materials. An adjustment in this policy must be made.

Teacher's Guides are necessary when teaching at home or in a school. This policy punishes those of us who teach at home. I use ebay for many of my homeschooling purchases ;however, I will have to find another place to purchase if this policy continues. It doesn't take a teaching degree to read a teachers manual. I homeschool. Homeschoolers must have access to teacher's editions to effectively teach. While I understand eBay's position, I do not believe it is up to them to decide if a student is cheating or not. You can go to most publishers websites and buy teacher's editions outright so what is the difference? If students cheat, it will eventually come back to haunt them later in life and they will only regret their cheating. If eBay starts this policy, what will be next?????
#333

Rebecca M. Penoyer said 06/01/06, 9:28 pm (verified)
I homeschool my own four children plus four others. I rely on e-bay purchases to make this arrangement economically plausible. Discontinuing the ability to sell and purchase teacher's editions is unwarranted and illogical.

This position by Ebay is illogical and discriminatory. Homeschoolers use Ebay as a means to sell and purchase curriculum every year. Ebay is not taking into consideration the extremely large numbers of homeschool families who use ebay to buy/sell homeschool materials. These materials are available at at local stores in all states as well as conventions. Ebay is not preventing cheating by children, but rather, punishing homeschool families who have used the site for years to save on homeschool materials. Please reconsider your position.
#308

LongTribe said 06/01/06, 6:55 pm (verified)
because it is discriminatory towards the growing number of home school families. I cannot imagine trying to home school without teachers editions that include answer keys as well as teacher helps. Home schooling is a growing trend in the US (and other countries) and it is unfair of eBay to limit those of us in we can buy or sell to aid in our endeavor to provide a solid education for our children.
