There are so many of us out here who are homeschooling our children and Ebay is our saving grace when it comes to finances and curriculum. When you ban the teacher's editions from being sold on your site, we are unable to get what we need for our children! I have to say I am POSITIVE there are more of us homeschoolers bidding for these books than there are eighth graders trying to spend their allowance on one! If anything, these kids will drive the prices up a bit, but that should only help you!
Parents have the responsibility to be aware of what their children are up too. If my child was cheating I would know just by his inability to do the problem in front of me.
I support this petition. Adult material is not banned on Ebay. Publishers are selling these books everyday from their own web sites. There is no law against the sale of these books. This is discrimination against home schoolers and small book sellers. Ebay has placed themselves in the position of school administrator.
Not only does this discriminate against homeschoolers, but anyone who wants to better themselves by learning. TE's are a great source for self teaching on any subject. How can anyone learn if they don't have the answers to check their work. No where else are teachers editions banned. Ebay can't dictate such a thing.
The new policy prohibiting the sale of teacher's editions -- a policy that is discriminatory against homeschool parents.
This is wrong, please correct this
This is another attempt by do gooders to legislate morality. If you think this rule will stop cheaters you are wrong. They will use their evil ways to cheat another way. This is unfair to a large group of moral people. Stop punishing good people for the evils of others.
I am not a "homeschooler" but a professional educational consultant with my own private tutoring business. I only use the teacher's edition to save time when I am working with a student,I am currently spending hours completing Algebra problems for three of my students. I is an inane policy, they are not the world police. If a student is using the answer key to complete homework and does not understatnd the concept they will still fail the test/exam.
Please do not let the liberal LEFT take away OUR right to sell homeschool materials. We are a small, yet united and loud group! Please do what is RIGHT, not PC!!
No one under 18 should be allowed to buy or sell on eBay. There are other sites and stores where Teacher Manuals can be bought without any restrictions. Most homeschool material seems to be different than public school material to begin with and I don't see how by not allowing these materials to be sold - how it controls and stops these children from cheating.
because ebay is discriminating against homeschoolers. If I can buy these same books directly from the publishers (at full retail price) then what is the difference of buying them on ebay? The publishers are using their weight to bully the homeschoolers. Shame, shame, shame.
1. Most homeschool curriculum is not used in public/private school situations so who are they "protecting"?
2. Ebay doesn't monitor any other area in such a way. Many companies (i.e. Tupperware) in their legal info don't allow sales on internet auction sites...don't see ebay cancelling these sales.
3. Only homeschool discrimination would foster this type of policy.
Even teachers in poor communities or teacher's of charter schools depend on cutting cost and obtaining quality books! But the homeschool community is being shut off of Ebay. That community is bigger than you realize!
Cheating on homework and tests in school is as old as clay tablets and reed pens. It always has been and always will be up to teachers and parents of students in all types of educational settings to monitor for and to correct this vice. No one should expect the publisher or the sales broker to do this for him.
