It makes no sense to ban elementary level teacher editions because only adults can purchase and sell on Ebay. It is totally discriminatory against homeschoolers. The publishers I deal with (A Beka and Bob Jones) have no such policy against the resale of their teachers editions, so why should Ebay?
Get a grip, eBay. This policy follows faulty logic and you know it. It is not your job to enforce the integrity of any student, whether public, private or home schooled.
Do the people buying fishing equipment have licenses? Does the person buying a knife plan and using it for its specific purpose? How about gun parts? This rule really hurts homeschool parents!
If eBay will not allow complete homeschool sets to be sold, they shoudl eliminate the homeschool sub-category. As a university faculty member, I must ask what's next? Will they ban the sale of calculators because some students can use them to cheat? I think not. eBay is a left-coast company and it does not matter to them that their policies are unfair to those wishing to sell materials that enhance traditional family values. eBay has made a conscious choice (and deliberate effort)to enforce this policy on homeschoolers and this choice reflects their values.
I don't understand why ebay would not allow teachers ed. when you have to be an adult to bid, so kids shouldn't be on here anyways. it is totally unfair. especially since I created 20 auctions with complete grades sets and all are taken off.
As a homeschooling mom, teacher editions are a necessity for my family. Purchasing these books from the publisher is not an option due to the high prices they charge.
We live in the Arctic and we homeschool our children. We like to use ebay to buy our homeschool textbooks and books for our family to read and we were quite disappointed that Ebay won't let us buy homeschool materials that our family needs.
This is wrong because alot of homeschoolers depend on this for buying/selling curriculums and it would make things hard for alot of people if teacher manuals were banned from being sold.
I am a homeschool teacher and buy nearly all my curriculum used. This policy would make it extremely difficult for us to afford curriculum for our children as we would have to purchase it new from the manuf. Also, what is stopping the same student from purchasing the same TE from the manuf? Your policy doesn't make good business sense for teachers/homeschool families.
I'm a homeschooling mom and selling last year's materieals helps support this years school cost. Please allow the sale of Teachers editions on your site. Thanks
Jaime Hartfield
Homeschooling materials should not be banned due to the misdeeds of other students. If it is Ebay's responsibility to ensure proper usage of all their products, then they have many more policies that should be put in place concerning adult-oriented materials.
eBay members that are selling these Teacher Edition materials are typically homeschool parents who are selling complete homeschool curriculum packages (which include the homeschool teacher reference materials) to other homeschool parents, as well as people selling antique educational books from other eras.
I try to sell TE textbooks to help home schooling parents cut their costs of educating their children. Ebay and the seller shouldn't have to police who is a proper buyer for a TE book. Thank you.
as a homescholer i need to be able to buy the teacher's edition to the books my children are using! plus now i have books we are finished with that i can't sell on ebay
It is not fair to cheat families that homeschool just because another student MAY cheat. They will find a way anyway; whereas this is an awesome way for hs families to LEGALLY educate their children.
