I homeschool and sell many of my books (not necessarily teacher's additions) on ebay for other homeschoolers to buy at cheaper prices than new. Please help homeschoolers keep their expenses down by allowing us to sell our supplies to others.
I think that cutting off us homeschoolers is outrageous, how many parents would purchase books for their kids to cheat? That just souonds absurd and the homeschoolers who rely on these books are paying the price of what may be a very few moronic parents who would purchase such things (if their intention is to infact CHEAT)for their underages children. I don't know of any children who are allowed to go to ebay and purchase things without their parents consent and CREDIT CARD number.
As a homeschooler, I usually look for items on eBay. If teachers' editions and answer keys can not be bidded on, eBay will get less "word of mouth" advertising among the growing homeschooling groups.
When did it become EBay's job to police the schools? Are they going to prevent the sale of text messaging phones as well on the basis that students might pass notes?
I am a homeschooler who needs access to teacher editions. I was also a classroom teacher and anyone worth their salt will know that a student is cheating.
To Ebay: Do public school children use the same cirruculum that homeschoolers use? Homescool children do not "need" to purchase books to cheat, their parents already have the books.
I can't tell you how often I've bought homeschool materials off of ebay in the past 11 yrs of homeschooling my 3 children. I will absolutely stop turning to ebay for my needs.
By putting this pettion in place you are displacing and entire group of eductors from beign able to obtain resourses to teach. thier must be a better way to handle whether or not a person is of age to purchase said materials.
As a homeschooling family, we suggest you continue to handle cirriculum. Please FIND A WAY to make this work for us who get no benefit from the school taxes each of us has to pay anyway -- whether our children go to public schools or not.
If ebay can regulate the sale of adult materials, stun guns and knives, copyrighted materials, and designer knock-offs then they can work out a system for selling teacher materials.
Eliminating the sale of Teacher Editions will not keep students from cheating but will hamper homeschooling parents who use the materials to aid them in instructing their children.
unless these teacher's editions are being sold on eBay by school districts, they would not be useful for cheating in the first place. I am a certified classroom teacher, current homeschooler and seven-year ebay member with nearly 2000 positive transactions to my credit. eBay is a necessary marketplace for far-flung homeschoolers to obtain new curriculum materials. This policy protects no one and hurts thousands.
