As a homeschooling family, we frequently purchase educational materials off of ebay. It helps us try new curriculum at a reasonable price. And the homeschool community, by its nature, helps others within our community by passing and sharing curriculum. In your rush to protect the factory schooling establishment from those few who would cheat, you've hurt a growing and vital community of independent educators. Please eliminate this roadblock to the purchase of curriculum on Ebay.

The institution of this prejudicial policy makes me think I should take my homeschool purchasing elsewhere. As a homeschool Mom on a limited budget, I have relied on ebay to purchase may curriculum items. By removing from Ebay the opportunity to purchase Teacher's Editions for the curriculum I use, Ebay is potentially losing income.

Homeschool parents rely on teacher editions. The vast majority of teaher editions are K-9 and the students should not be on eBay searching for and buying from their parents account. What is eBay afraid of? Your doing a great disservice to sellers and buyers a like

#611

Kathy Armstrong said 06/02/06, 4:45 pm (verified)
the policy is nonsense. Teacher's manuals for homeschool curriculum are freely available at the publishers'/company's websites. eBay is doing no real service here in it's campaign to prevent 'cheating' as they homeschool curroicula can be bought elsewhere. If htey are concerned about kids in school, they need to remember that most of the materials used for homeschooling ar enot used in public schools but developped for homeschooling specifically so the cheating claim is worthless.
#610

Susan Roenke said 06/02/06, 4:44 pm (verified)
It is discriminating against homeschoolers who are usually low income, due to one parent staying home, and therefore need to buy homeschool supplies second hand. Also a lot of homeschoolers sell their supplies when they are done using them.
#609

Dean DeMarra said 06/02/06, 4:42 pm (verified)
Makes no sense, Homeschoolers teach their kids because they want them to have a better education, and the point of cheating would be?

because as a homeschooler who lives on one income, I am always looking for cheaper options for my children's curriculum. I have used EBay in the past for curriculum but if this policy stays and we are no longer allowed to purchase teacher's edition materials, then I will have to take my business elsewhere. I mean, what good is it if you can by a student workbook but not the teacher's edition to go along with it?
