I understand the thought behind the move to not sell teacher's editions, but what you may not be aware of is that teachers many times teach the answers anyway so the test scores will be higher.
I have purchased a significant amount of curriculum on half.com in the past, including teacher's manuals. If this policy is kept in place, I will choose Amazon, Powell's or other used book sources to purchase curriculum. The responsibility of policing purchases remains with the responsible parent, not ebay administrators.
I would appreciate you considering re-instating the sale of the T.E. I appreciate the fact you are concerned about teaching. Perhaps you might also consider removing some of the "adult" material.
I support this petition because it's unfair to home schoolers. My children are at the high school level and I would like to purchase books and such to help them on ebay. I feel like the excuse of someone cheating is taken out of context here. If I can not purchase what I need on ebay, I will go else where. How sad of ebay!
This is an outrageous policy that needs to be rescinded immediately as they have continued to fail in giving a complete explanation for this policy, even within their forums. They have arbitrarily pulled auctions, even after stating exceptions and then pulling those auctions too. There has been no notice given to their members nor was their any public discussion prior to this decision which is unfair to their members.
Trust me, it's not just homeschoolers whose DESPERATELY need the Teacher's Edition / Support Materials. I have sold SEVERAL very large sets to school teacher's whose schools can not AFFORD to buy them from publishers. This hurt more teachers than just homeschool parents!
By your recent actions and policy, you are forcing myself and many other homeschoolers to go elsewhere to purchase and sell our resources. We are recognized by our individual states as legally able to teach our kids, therefore making us "teachers" needing teaching materials. I hope that you will reconsider your decision and allow us to purchase the resources we need and sell the ones we no longer need. If, on the other hand, you insist on keeping this new policy in place, I and the many other homeschoolers in the United States and abroad will be forced to do business with other companies and among ourselves. We are a growing number willing to spend our money in order to educate and raise our children according to our beliefs and convictions. If e-bay is not interested in doing business with homeschoolers, then we will take our money where we are allowed to buy and sell everything we need to accomplish our goals.
Respectfully,
Nancy Smith
Please reconsider your decision to ban teacher's edition. What about only permitting those over the age of 18 to purchase TE materials. Is that a possibility. Thank you, Wanda Conley
