For the past year a dark cloud has loomed large for baseball, the speculation of steroid use has undermined Americas Greatest Pastime. Ken Caminiti, who in 1996 won National League Most Valuable Player was quoted as saying,"It's no secret what's going on in baseball. At least half the guys are using [steroids]. They talk about it. They joke about it with each other...."

During 2005, players were subpoenaed for Grand Jury and House Government Reform Committees to testify and discuss the use of steroids in Major League Baseball. Through this process, one thing became clear, the Superstars of baseball would not disclose anything that might harm their already fragile reputations and egos.

Unfortunately, among those who have suffered, is the legacy of Roger Maris and his single season home run record of 61, which was shattered first by Mark McGuire in 1998 with 70 home runs, and later in 2001 by Barry Bonds with 73.
Please take the time to sign this petition, and let everyone know its purpose: to restore Roger Maris' single season home run record with Major League Baseball.

I think Mark Mcguire, sammy sosa and Barry Bonds should be stripped of all of their accomplishments they have ever achieved. Mcguire for steroids, Sosa for corked bat, Bonds for steroids.

It is a travesty what our national past time has come to. The purity of the game is being lost on generations that witness steroid scandles as commonplace and who think that Bonds, Sosa or McGuire actually deserve to hold the single season homerun record. Do the right thing and give that honor back to a man who went through so much to earn it...none of which was injecting illegal substances into his body so that he could try to beat an honest man.

Maris is still the rightful owner of the single-season home run mark. McGwire's, Sosa's, and Bonds' records mean nothing, they are FAKE. Let's make 61 as magical again as it once was.

I support this petition. Bonds and the rest of the juiced up jokes are a HUGE step back for baseball. Make things right MLB and restore Maris's record, and strengthen Aaron's by nulling these swollen 'roid numbers.
