The time is right for Thor. Please, look at casting Nathan Jones from Troy. The dream team: Peter Jackson and WETA Digital, fresh off King Kong, look for a new project in fantasy/mythology...
If Thor is portrayed properly, as a skilled, highly intelligent member of a superior race of beings (much like Superman, come to think about it) as interpreted by Walt Simonson and Stan Lee, then I think a movie would be great. Depicting Thor as a Hulk with a cape and hammer would be bitterly disappointing.
Simonson's magnificent run of Thor should serve as THE inspiration for a Thor movie. A truly epic climax would be Thor against the Midgard Serpent or Odin, Loki and Thor versus Surtur. There is no need to look any further than this....
With all the advances in CGI this is the time to make a Thor movie and not look stupid! In my opinion it should focus on the Ragnorok (End of days)with of course the awe inspiring final battle.

What are you waiting for? Thor has the same flavor as Lord Of The Rings and if done right people will eat it up at the box office. Done right means a big budget for special FX. If you cheese out on the FX that would ruin the movie.

Here's an idea. Go to the creators, REALLY PITCH A PLOT for a story.I MEAN get them to take us seriously. E mail them until they get a clue of what we want. BUT DON'T ANNOY THEM. I've gotten positive results e mailing different companies by being sincere and persistant. To the (petition creator) if you want it bad enough you can make it happen Captain.

I have wanted this for years. Thor could be a fantastic movie, if it were done as well as they did Spiderman. All the elements are there if they find a director that can bring Thor to life for us with the right actor. I would think it would be a blockbuster and thrill to watch.

I have a friend who is over 6'6" and muscular. He's also blond and very germanic looking, and is a really good role-player, so I think he'd make a good Thor.

F*&%ing-A!!! How could they do Elektra or Luke Cage before Thor??? It's an epic fantasy waiting to happen. The potential for story, special effects, character, plot, money-success is mighty. If there ever was a hero movie dying to be made it's Thor, the greatest warrior of them all.
It's a sin that this movie hasn't been made. Get the special effects crews from 'LOTR' and 'Day After Tomorrow'; the writers from 'Gladiator', 'Last of the Mohicans', 'Troy', 'LOTR' and 'Braveheart'; get Neil Gaiman's and David Gemmel's input; get Ridley Scott to help with cinematogrophy; get Peter Jackson to direct; and get Stan Lee to have a big jug of mead in Jack Kirby's favour.
Currently, we have very succesful comic movies (Spider-Man, X-Men) and fantasy movies (Lord of the Rings). Wouldn't a Thor movie be the ideal combination of both? Make Surtur look like the Balrog... from Germany, Thomas
Put Thor out in the movies. Thor was awesome and I loved reading the comics. Talk about a moneymaker if done well with good actors, a good plot and good special effects.
I really appreciate the sentiment guys, seriously. But I'm not as young as I used to be, and I'm not sure I'm up to the task of making a movie. I mean, they treat you well and all, but it's six months of training, long days of filming, and that's not even taking into account the press junkets.
