On the 28th of november 2005 the danish tv channel TV2 aired a program called "Operation X", where they went undercover with hidden cameras to exploire the cruel and massive machinery of wild animal trading.

The result was shocking..maybe I was naiv, but i never thought this was happening in little Denmark. And the way the traders were acting with coldness towards these poor animals were horrible.

The show found out, that a guy in Denmark had connections regarding trading with wild animals in many many countries such as Germany, Holland, Switzerland and Spain, just to name a few.
He told the journalist that went undercover, that he could get more than 73 different wild and threatend animals - even an elephant!!

We saw little baby-tigers that had been taken away from their mother - some only 1 DAY old!!
The one baby-tiger the show bought to show how easy it is, and to show how they fake the papers, ended in Denmark at the Zoo where it immediately got taken care of by vets. They almost lost that little guy. It was in such a poor condition it almost died - it hadn't got proper food, it had a BAD infection and pooped blood and last but not least it was very, very stressed. Luckily it made it and are doin well today, but only because it got the proper care it needed. Had it been placed in a private family who hadn't treated it, it had died...4 weeks old!!!

Some of the traders in Germany were parks, to name the 2 the programm visited was www.safaripark-stukenbrock.de and www.tierpark-nadermann.de. They breed and breed and then they sell them to private people..these are like Zoo's!! That scared me!

I think we need to get the politicians and others to open their eyes..we need to stop this. We need to get tougher penalties so that those disguesting people can go to prison and do their time.
The one guy here in Denmark ended up getting a fine...1500 euro and was taken away the right to have anything to do with animals for 2 years. BUT as I found out, he got the exact same penaltie in 2003 only with a smaller fine, and did that help?? NO, he still continues to trade animals - wild animals. He needs to go to prison and do his time.
Maybe if we got tougher penalties, the monsters who do these things would think twice in fear of the chance of goin to prison.
A fine at 1500-2000 euro is not enough to stop them - that's "peanuts" to them.

Please sign this petition no matter where you live, because this is happening in your own country too. We have to put an end to this toture of poor defenceless animals - we're their voice as they can't speak up themselves.

Thank you so much for your help!
