Bring back the 77-78 body and update the driveline and call it a day. I would buy a new Trans am if you made it right and I have never bought brand new car. way to lose a great customer base GM
I would support the bringing back of the beloved TA, only if they stuck with the 1st or 2nd Generation look. I think Pontiac will screw it up and will probably look somewhat like the failed new GTO. I hate the way the new GTO looks, what an ugly design! They need to fire it's designer!
Trans Am's have run throughout my family for generations, i GM decides to not recreate it i promise to never buy another GM vehicle the rest of my life. Besides the firebird and camaro came out the same year and i think the camaro's design came a few months after the firebird design in 1966. Why give the camaro the honor and flush the Trans Am, Its an American icon.
I support this petition because I was never able to buy the T/A that I wanted. Now that it has been gone for a few years, it's time to come back. I have waited to see if Pontiac will make a new T/A and this is a breathe of fresh air. I am going to wait to buy any new car till after 2009. Hopefully the T/A will be there for me.
Americans have always loved the Trans Am, even in it's "bad" days. It is a modern American icon. If they don't bring it back Pontiac will soon join Oldsmobile in history.
the Trans-Am is the original muscle car.. I've had a few of them and my favorite is the 81'. But i've seen the concept for the 2009 and it is insane..I love how it still looks like the the old ones, right down the scoops on the fenders.. AWESOME WORK GM!!!Now start building those things so We Trans-Am lovers can bring back the memories in a REAR WHEEL DRIVE V-8!!!!SERIOUSLY, they still make those god damn Corvettes. Give us our T/A's back!!!
I love the concept and i will buy one if built like it. I have been a T/A fanatic for years and this is the concept that will show the world what american cars are built of.Make it and we will buy.America has been waiting for this car too long, please dont dissapoint us with something like a GTO.THANK YOU GM.
but i think the body style needs to be better looking i think it should try to look more like the 1977 trans am and have the rear spolier stay the same i am a ta lover and when you throw away an american muscle legend it is a shame i think gm needs to look into there old muscle cars and make rwd cars and an option of fwd muscle cars for the mentally rwd challenge go back to the old style cars and adjust the body and thats it don't redesign it but adjust to the way it looks but keepin the same look the gto is nice but to family looking like it's american muscle keep it that way if people want an option of fwd have some but keep a rwd car a rwd car and cut down the prices to be in competition with dodge and ford that challenger coming out is gorgeous and the shelby is good looking to so if that trans am comes out i would make it about 5000 dollars more than the mustang just for the fact that the mustang can't hang with a trans am
The 2002 TA just looked mean, that last gen was to me the hottest meanest reg production car ever. the 09 camaro is looking happy. Here is to bringing back a mean TA in 09
I own a 2000 Pontiac Trans-Am ws6 v8 convertible. Bar none the best car i have ever had or seen. i love my car and would like to see a comeback for a new model of trans am and firebird formula. i support all the hard work it will take to make it happen. i love the new concept car that was designed for year 2009. i hope that pontiac understands the GTO is not even close to what a trans am is or a formula. I am shocked and uphauled. please see my point and get it together. it will benefit you first to make them then me secondly. i am excited about the future for this concept model and am ready to buy it now. thank you
i own a firebird 2002 v8 and i would like to see the transam back since its more popular the firebirds themselves. I had a camaro and it did not drive as good as my firebird formula it seems to almost beat every car out there but it seems that everytime i take the fire bird somewhere people always confuse my car with the camaro. So lets bring back the original muscle car and lets have it more powerful than the stupid mustang that almost everyone else out there has and lets beat that camaro everyone is raving about! yeahhhhhhhhhh!
I owned a 1980 Turbo Trans Am for 14 years, and have 70,000 miles on my 2000 Trans Am. If it wears out, I'll buy a Mustang, but I'd prefer the option of a new Trans Am. I prefer it to the tune of being willing to pay $10,000 to $15,000 more than whatever the Mustang is going for. Maybe if you continue to abandon me, I'll buy a Corvette.
I Support this petition not because i like the firebird/trans am, it because I think that the Firebird is an integral part of American Muscle just like the camaro, the GTO, and most notably, THE MUSTANG. Reintroduce the trans am so that Mustang drivers have something to race.
I support this petition. I am on my second Trans Am and I am only 24. Just so you know GM I am a Trans Am driver. I will never buy a Camero or GTO, no matter how much I need the power of a V8. If you want me to buy any car from you ever again, you better make me a Trans Am. I perfer to have T-Tops back too.
I support this petition. This car is legendary.I had a 78 TA,black with gold trim, just like the Bandit. This car ate Mustangs, and if it were brought back, like the concept car,it would devour them again!
I support the petition. I just want to say, I was very disappointed when GM discontinued the American ICONS Camero and the Trans Am. Look at Ford, Dodge, Chrysler, they are retro styling all of the classics. Why can't GM keep up with them. Their sales would sure turn around.
I support this petition. Ford brought back the Mustang, Chrysler brought back the Charger and soon the Challenger, GM has the Camaro so far but what about the beloved Trans Am??? The 77-78 body style was great, why not re-do it with todays technology? 6.6 litre with 450HP and great gas mileage? T-Tops? swirled aluminum dash trim? The aerodynamics were great on these cars, why not just pull out the old blueprints and use our newly available materials that don't rust as easy or bend as easy or weigh as much? Do something very different than the rest of the manufacturers out there instead of following the trend. Come on, the 77 T/A made a so-so movie into a classic cult film. Imagine if Bandit had a mustang? The movie would have bombed. Where else has GM had a car that can do that?
I assume Chrysler might consider making the "General Lee" again after reading this?
I own a 1976 50th aniversary TA and a 2002 blk WS.6 and after seeing the pictures of the new concept firebird on transamcountry.com I will own one of those too
The Trans-Am needs to be brought back since the GTO was such a Disappointment. All i drive are Trans-Am's. Also what the hell is the Deal with a new Camaro and no new Trans-Am. The Muscle Car needs To Live Again.
I support this petition. I have owned several from 1969-1980 models and would like another since these were my favorite cars. I would definitely look into buying a new retro Firebird T/A.
