The Tribute in Light is a temporary memorial commemorating those lost on September 11, 2001 which is lit for one week per year . The memorial is made up of 88 high-powered spotlights, which create two vertical columns that light up the sky. Not only do the light beams resemble the lost towers that stood over the city, but they serve as a way to honor everyone that was lost. On a clear night, the memorial is visible from up to sixty miles away.

These lights serve as a reminder of the strength, unity and courage the people of New York hold. They show all visitors to New York that we shall never forget the day that changed a nation. We feel the City of New York is obligated to show respect to the fallen heroes by lighting their spirits in the sky for all of New York and its neighboring boroughs to see 365 day a year.
