For hundreds of years British troops have colonized the world. We find it a violation of international human rights that they still persist in occupying Ireland. We demand freedom, self determination, justice, and social and economic equity. We stand with James Connolly and all of our fore fathers who died for this freedom and proclaim that in the 21st century this oppression must finally come to an end. Tiocfaidh Ár Lá

I'm from England and I think that the English have been unacceptable to the Irish. I think that British troops should leave and let Ireland be.

I am a great supporter of a United Eire, just reading through some of the posts, and 1 person, i think it was rule brittania said that the british troops were sent in to protect us nationalists and republicans....! Bullshit, ask any mother or father in the streets of Belfast and they will tell you the british soldiers were biased, and sided with the protestants, it's always been that way, but the only way to get a united eire is to stop fighting amongst ourselves, nationalists-unionists, republicans-loyalists, and bring the fight to the british, i have started my own organisation it is called Nua Oglaigh Na Eireann, its only objective is to bring about a united eire, and will stop at nothing to achieve this, if you would like to join or know more let me know...God bless, Tiodhfach Ar La

IRISHMEN AND IRISHWOMEN: In the name of God and of the dead generations from which she receives her old tradition of nationhood, Ireland, through us, summons her children to her flag and strikes for her freedom. Having organised and trained her manhood through her secret revolutionary organisation, the Irish Republican Brotherhood, and through her open military organisations, the Irish Volunteers and the Irish Citizen Army, having patiently perfected her discipline, having resolutely waited for the right moment to reveal itself, she now seizes that moment, and, supported by her exiled children in America and by gallant allies in Europe, but relying in the first on her own strength, she strikes in full confidence of victory. We declare the right of the people of Ireland to the ownership of Ireland, and to the unfettered control of Irish destinies, to be sovereign and indefeasible. The long usurpation of that right by a foreign people and government has not extinguished the right, nor can it ever be extinguished except by the destruction of the Irish people. In every generation the Irish people have asserted their right to national freedom and sovereignty; six times during the last three hundred years they have asserted it to arms. Standing on that fundamental right and again asserting it in arms in the face of the world, we hereby proclaim the Irish Republic as a Sovereign Independent State, and we pledge our lives and the lives of our comrades-in-arms to the cause of its freedom, of its welfare, and of its exaltation among the nations. The Irish Republic is entitled to, and hereby claims, the allegiance of every Irishman and Irishwoman. The Republic guarantees religious and civil liberty, equal rights and equal opportunities to all its citizens, and declares its resolve to pursue the happiness and prosperity of the whole nation and all of its parts, cherishing all of the children of the nation equally and oblivious of the differences carefully fostered by a

Unfortunately for the indiginous population of the north east part of this island the plantation of English and Scottish settlers there in the mid part of the last millenium was the most sucessful of all the plantations. It is as a direct result of this that we see the problems of today. Phrases such as "No Surrender" are very inflamatory to Irish Republicans because it suggests that the 'planted' british have a right to deny the people of the north east of this land the right to be part of the Republic of Ireland. To the British who live in the occupied territories I say: It is only through a quandary in history that you live on this island. You are more than welcome to stay here as we, the people of Ireland, are not as biggoted as you or your ancestors. However you will have to recognise that the peoples of this island will be united under one flag and the union will be no more.

I'm a New-Zealander of Irish extraction, and am fully supportive of the Irish people's struggle for self determination. Britain has no busy maintaining a military presence in the six northern counties and should withdraw immediately. (I actually thought they had) I also believe it is time for the UN to intervene and would fully support any move by the Republican movement or its sympathisers abroad in taking Britain before the International Court of Human Rights for war crimes. Such as the cold blooded murder of my eldest daughter's namesake Mairead Farrell and her two friends in Gibraltar in 1988. Oneday it is my hope to tell my daughter (now 14) that her namesake's murderers have been brought to justice. This was a shocking, inhuman crime like many others visited upon our Irish brothers and sisters. Our day will come.

I support this petition. Don't you think that 800+ years is long enough for the people of Northern Ireland to wait for freedom and self determination?
