As a aspiring writer myself, I applaud the WGA for standing up for the rights of writer's and for trying their best to get the creative minds who make and shape our favorite shows the respect and rewards they deserve. The creative process is difficult and often takes time, writer's are the backbone of the television and motion picture business and yet time and time again they've been taken advantage of and given raw deals. The bigwigs needs to hurry up and realize that writer's deserve to be paid whenever their creative property is used.
As a student studying to write for television I fully support the WGA in their decision to strike. This is the most important action they can take for the next generation of writers as well as the industry as a whole.
I support the writers of The Office. They deserve to be compensated fairly for their creative work that is distibuted in any form. Not just television.
Please sign the Save Triple M's Get This with Tony Martin, Ed Kavalee and Richard Marsland petition. If you do I promise to get more people to sign this petition.
I had almost completely stopped watching TV when The Office writers brought me back with their quality writing. They also helped make the internet a viable
what has our country come to when studios and producers are making millions and are unwilling to share with the writers their fair share. i mean, come on, without writers you have no television, and without television you have a lot of angry people out there. and i, for one, will not tolerate the insurgence of reality-based tv shows. i watch tv to escape from reality, not immerse myself in it. god help us all if it comes to that.
Dear studios,You are wrong and you know it. The writers deserve AT LEAST the same off internet reruns as they do on regular cable. You cannot coast on your reality tv shows, you will HAVE to give in. We demand it.
Please help end this strike. I am one of the few movie goers and loyal fan of TV shows but I won't be watching reruns, or replacement/filler shows, or reality shows, or internet/web shows until this is settled. The writers deserve a good offer as they are the ones who write the shows/movies, without them there is nothing. If I have to suffer for a few months of no TV and no movies, so be it. I will not buy dvds either until this is over. I speak for many people in this opinion, only you can end this strike and until you do we will not give you any support. If your economy suffers for your selfishness then so be it. I only hope that when you wake up and realize the grave situation you are in and decide to remedy it that it won't be too late. You are losing many viewers that may never come back, me included.
I am fully supportive in this strike. The writers deserve just as much of the residuals as any high paid CEO out there. They do most of the work yet get the least amount of pay for it. It's not fair and I think this strike is well over due. Sit down, talk with the writers, and come up with a plan that everyone can agree on. Stop being selfish and help the little people out.
Just know that I will not be watching any of the garbage the networks plan to air while the strike continues. Treat the writers fairly-- they are the reason we watch and the reason the shows are so successful.
I hope that these writers get what they deserve. These big companies are being so cheap. If the companies didn't have these amazing writers then they would have no money. These writers should be appreciated and I hope this can all be resolved soon.
I'm a Registered Nurse who is outraged at the AMPTP's position on this. The only leg the AMPTP has to stand on is GREED. Fair is fair, WGA gets their share!
Writers deserve to be paid for their work, whether it airs on TV or the internet. Many thanks to the studios for punishing the viewers who line their pockets. What happens when we refuse to watch or log on? Will you listen then?
