Goal Progress:
This is an email sent too the president of TWC houston. With concerns too my pre employment battles. I figured if i started a potetion, that maybe TWC would see that many other people have viewed their treatment towards me as unacceptable. The email atachments can be viewed at http://abadaba.googlepages.com/Document.txt or in RTF format http://abadaba.googlepages.com/Document.rtf
Dear Mr. Ron McMillan
I’m not absolute if this is even your email, so please excuse this email if you are not the president of Time Warner Communications Houston division.
My name is Adam Brown; I'm 26 years old, a father of three beautiful children, and a resident of Clute Texas.
The reason I’m contacting you today, is in regards too my ongoing struggle with the process of employment as an installation technician in your facilities in the Clute Texas location. Needless to say I wish this process would not have left me with emailing you my current problems. So furthermore before you read on in this email, I would like too say it will most likely be long, but very interesting. If you would not mind taking a few minutes out of your busy day. I would ask of you too continue to read on in this detailed email description.
Back in January of 2006 I moved too Clute Texas with my family, with hopes of building a new life in a smaller town away from big city life. Upon arrival in Lake Jackson, I immediately visited the local Time Warner Communication office too speak with the manager about an installation technician position. And was immediately told that there were position available. And being that I want too be back in the cable industry so badly, I expressed too Gene my eagerness too become an install technician. Upon my first interview with Gene, he was as excited as I was about coming to work for TWC. I expressed how working for TWC to me was not just a paycheck, but where I wanted too build my career.
After three weeks of not hearing anything after my paper work was submitted for new hire. I therefore contacted Gene multiple times, trying too find out when I would be able too start. After not returning my phone calls for another week, I paid a personal visit too the location, and was told he was busy. I left a message that I would like too be contacted as too when I could start school in Houston. After another week, on the 11th of February, Gene contacted me too let me know that TWC would be going a different route, and that I was no longer being viewed for the position. After being struck with that comment, I asked why it was that I was turned down. He stated that “I can’t answer that Adam, but good luck with your pursuit in the cable industry.”
I then sucked up my pride, and went about finding out why I was not hired. I spent countless hours researching on the internet for whom too contact. Finally I find the number of your human resources department. I then contacted Mrs. Kathy Britton. I left Mrs. Britton nine separate voicemails, asking her too contact me with regards too the pre employment. I was never contacted by Mrs. Britton in any way.
Well fast forward two month’s later; I am still trying too find out what went wrong. Finally after fourteen phone calls too Mrs. Britton, and 5 personal visits with Gene. I finally receive an email from Mrs. Britton. It stated that TWC was not available too offer me a position because I had a $1,600 debt with them. Mind you Mr. McMillan, I didn’t receive this email until 94 days after my two interviews, and countless wasted hours on the phone, with eleven messages left with Mrs. Britton.
After I received the email from Mrs. Britton, I immediately emailed her disputing the debt. I never resided at the address in question, nor had I lived anywhere close to that town. She responded that I would need too contact CMI collection’s and dispute it. So I therefore contacted CMI and disputed the debt. I then contacted the FTC and reported the identity theft, and was given case numbers an so on. I then contacted CMI again, and faxed them all the information they said they needed. Upon receipt of the current disputes, CMI was too release the debt. Needless too say TWC collections said it was not good enough, and that I needed more proof that I was not the debtor.
Mrs. Britton and I emailed each other back and fourth of the necessary documents she was told I needed, that way she could re review me for the position. After seven day’s of frustration with TWC collections, they finally released the debt.
Upon the release of the debt; many emails expressing too Mrs. Britton how bad I wanted this job, I was told Gene would be contacting me. Gene contacted me thirteen minutes after Mrs. Britton said he would. He then explained too me that he was sorry about what was going on. And that usually people give up after two weeks of not hearing anything from TWC. He expressed how he admired my persistence, but stated that he legally couldn’t tell me what was wrong. And that it was Mrs. Britton’s job too contact me with the outcome.
I was very excited at this point, I was told I was being reconsidered, and that I needed too come back in for another interview so he could get the ball bouncing. Again I went in with my head high and my thoughts on cloud nine. Because all I’ve wanted in the last 2 years, is too build my future with TWC!
Fast forward one week later; I’ve heard nothing from TWC. I was told by Gene Mrs. Britton will contact me with information on drug screening. So I contacted TWC Clute location, and left a message for Gene too call me back about the drug screening. I was never contacted within another three day window. So I decide too email Mrs. Britton “Because Mrs. Britton never returns my calls.”
Later on that afternoon I get another email from Mrs. Britton. And let me tell you, my jaw dropped, and as a grown man it seriously brought me too tears! I was now again out of the loop for employment because of a time discrepancy! Here is a direct cut and paste from Mrs. Britton’s reply email.
Re: Post Adverse Action Notice
As you know, in order to protect Time Warner Cable (the “Company”) from potential liability, the company performs background investigations of applicants for employment [or employees]. Unfortunately, we have made a decision not to extend an offer of employment to you based in whole, or in part, on information contained in the consumer report which you authorized us to obtain (a copy of which was included in our fist notice to you). The following consumer reporting agency furnished the consumer report:
I then challenged Mrs. Britton with another email as too confirm what it was “again” now keeping me from the job! She then replied to myself, with part of the background check, highlighting and assault charge in 2004. I did not dispute the claim of the assault on the background check. I blatantly put on my application that I had been convicted of assault, and that the charges were dropped “self defense.” But that the state picked up the charges, and I didn’t have the money too legally defend myself. She then replied with the following excerpt below
Adam,
What you put on your application does not match what the state reports. I have no other alternative but to decline your consideration for employment. You stated on your application “Misdemeanor for assault 1999” what do you expect me to think? You off by 6 years, it looks like you are hiding information or falsifying your application. That is why this information is very important; obviously you didn’t pay attention to the question on the application.
With all due respect, how does it look like I’m falsifying records? When I put that I had the assault charge. I merely made a mistake in the date, not in hiding the offense. I would understand Mrs. Britton’s position, if I had not put anything on there at all as far as misdemeanor convictions.
This now lead’s me too you Mr. McMillan. You are my last hope at getting this installation technician position. I want it more than anything you can possibly imagine. Not just for me, but for my family! This has cost me so much, my wife has left me for almost two weeks now in constant attention with getting this job to better my future, and for our children. I would assume TWC would just rather me give up my pursuit, and not be of any bother anymore. I’m no quitter Mr. McMillan, and I hope that you would see my eagerness, and my determination to one day retire with pride from TWC.
You most likely will get a better view and timeline if you review the email.doc file I have attached
Sincerely
Adam Brown
