Well, Kuno, they managed to turn Nearly Headless Nick back to normal at the end of HP&tCoS, didn't they? He's a ghost. Then again, he'd been temporarily turned solid. BUT STILL! I'm sure you can find a way to make it work. Create a potion designed to affect ghosts only with the desired results of a love potion or something. Maybe, in the past, someone fell in love with a person that died and couldn't revive them so, after the person died, they made a potion for the ghost of that person since they didn't love them and it worked..I don't know. Does that even make sense?

Oh, about Peeves I had first planned to let Myrthe fall in love with him after drinking the potion, but than I noticed that's difficult to let a ghost take a drink ~_~... ne ?
Someone could slip him some love potion for a joke to get a laugh out of it. It's something I could see a young Sirius and James, as well as Pettigrew, doing while Remus just stood in the background tutting and shaking his head, listing off all the punishments they could receive if they were caught doing it.
Ron/Hermione, eh..You need to go back a few pages and check out what Kuno and I did on a fiction for Ron/Herione.

Harry needs somebody who understands him. Period.
On her site, www.jkrowling.com, JK's said that Harry needs Ginny because she's strong enough to handle him...Not that Hermione's weak or that Ron isn't a handful, but Ginny has a strong spirit and will.
After the Chamber of Secrets she moved on, she's seen horrors in her past, but she hasn't stopped living. Plus she's the only one who'll really stand up to Harry when he's brooding. Hermione pathetically attempts to berate him, but falls into a puddle of goo when he starts shouting.
In another aspect, think of the organization of the books. Harry, Ron, and Hermione: the golden trio. I never thought JK would ever think of Harmony because she wouldn't leave Ron out in the cold. Who was he going to end up with? Lavender and all of the other girls of their age haven't really grown up as much as the trio.
Which brings me to my next point...Harry,the mature. Harry is not the type to think before he acts, and can get very irritated at Hermione when she tries to think while in the midst of mortal peril. Harry is passionate; Hermione is practical. I think Ginny is just as impulsive and loving as Harry, but isn't afraid to slap Harry in the face when he's getting annoying.

No words of protest came from either of the two teens, however, but instead Ron lifted his arms to wrap gently around Hermione's waist as she, in turn, placed hers around his neck.

As for the hair, I thought of a dark purple, uhm, your hairdresser would call this colour "plum" or "aubergine".
I thought about a dark red too, because both colours don't appear so far at the HP characters.
Making her way quietly but quickly to Ron's side, Hermione sat down upon a cushion near him soundlessly, extending her arm out and gently pushing back Ron's bangs from his face.
In a moment's restlessness, Ron shifted slightly in his sleep causing the girl to draw her hand back against her chest quickly, blinking as she felt her cheeks grow hot.

Opening the door quietly and stepping inside, Hermione found herself in a room with fairly good lighting and a few cushions strewn about in random locations. There, against the middle of the wall in front of a window through which beams of moonlight were streaming in, sat Ron with his head resting on the pages of an open book which Hermione recognized to be the same one she'd checked out from the library on werewolves not three years ago.
By the looks of things, Ron had fallen asleep not long ago in the midst of reading the section in it that went more in-depth about what they had been assigned in Potions that mentioned Wolfsbane.
