There are not that many HMS Harmony shippers, and I doubt that even a small percentage of them would abandon Harry Potter for the sake of their imagination. Have all Harry Potter readers checked the internet frequently? Have they all read the interview? I doubt it. Therefore, it's highly unlikely that many will pay attention to this.
"True" fans listen to JKR, not to what they think "ought" to happen. It's her book after all. You can't ban it - the only thing you can possibly do is boycott it, and trust me, you'll be in the vast minority.

It's total detestation. So then Ron and Hermione argue (again). But just because people argue a lot doesn't mean that they can't have feelings for each other.

Let me explain how a mentally healthy person experiences the relationships in the Harry Potter novels:
When I read the first book, I thought: "Hmmm, 2 boys 1 girl, 6 books to come.... one of them has to end up with her." And I admit, I thought it would be Harry, but I did not worry about it because it would be completely negligible.
In book 2 and 3 nothing relationship-esque happenend (well they were still children, weren't they). And in GoF I knew it had to be Ron. Period.
At the end of book 4 I wondered if Harry would stay with Cho, but after reading OotP I was pretty sure, he and Ginny were to become the next couple.
Finally in HBP it unfolded and it was perfectly fitting.
But I confess I never gave much credit to the relationship-story. It is part of growing up and so it had to be in the books, but there are much more important things like friendship, the ultimate batte Good vs. Evil, courage and S.P.E.W.
Come on guys. The fate of the world is at stake and all you think about are relationships? If I get it my way, there will be no one left to ship at the end of Book 7. But then again... it's still a children's book.
