Just recently, the State of Minnesota passed a law modelled after one in North Dakota, which prohibits 21 year olds from going outat midnight on their birthday for 2 hours, when bars close at 2 am. This law was passed June 16th and just took effect August 1st. The problem which I and some other people might face is that my birthday falls on a Sunday. Sunday August 21st, 2005 to be exact. The problem witht this is that bars and liquor stores are not open on Sundays. Normally I would be able to go out with my friends from midnight until 2 am and then go home which to me wouldn't be a problem, but with the new law, not only would i have to wait until Sunday at 8:00 am but since liquor cannot be bought that day I would have to wait an additional day till Monday to drink. It is my golden birthday, one which I have planned since I was about 16. Now I will have to go to Wisconsin to celebrate my birthday. Now, the gloves are off. If the State of Minnesota wants to take on the younger generation, they are about to have a rude awakening. We can definitely vote for another Jesse Ventura if they want.
