Video games have revolutionized the entertainment industry not only by their far reaching influence on people all over the world but by creating movies, cartoons and music soundtracks. Characters like Mario, Link and Donkey Kong are recognizable around the world moreso than Tom Cruise, Jonny Depp or Danny Devito. These icons deserve their place in Hollywood like any other star.
Video game characters are starting to have as much of an impact in today's culture as movie stars and cartoon characters. They deserve their spots on the Walk of Fame.
Nintendo is Forever!
By not havings stars on the Walk of Fame for Mario, Zelda, Link, Donkey Kong, Lara Croft, Kirby and so many others - it's really a slap in the face. They are truly famous and deserve to be reconized, for they are just as much a part of the entertainment industry (if not more) as is Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny.
Not only has the video games industry grown by an immense amount over the past ten years, but it also provides one of the most entertaining forms of media - we need to celebrate the routes of the industry - and this is the perfect way to do so.
It's only fair, that with the increasing popularity of video games in popular culture, our favorite stars have their place in entertainment history. Hollywood has realised that gaming is not a fad, and is making changes quickly, this is the next logical step.
Video games in a respect are a lot like books in that there is a deep connection to be felt between you and the character you play. This should be displayed for all the public to see and understand.
For me, I'm more attached to a character like Link or Mario (or other noteworthy game characters like Snake) because I get to act in their story so to speak. No movie could ever do that for me, time the game industry gets some respect from hollywood besides some bad game to movie translations.
i'd like to see Scorpion from the Mortal Kombat History, but hey Mario would be the bigging of a much larger and more well known game character besides Sonic the Hedgehog...but yeah.....Mario all the way
I'd prefer to see Link or Samus, but I'd be more than happy to see Mario on there. I mean, it's about damn time videogames get recognized, and I Mario is a classic figure of videogame history.
i dont even know who Tony Danza is but i can tell Mario deserves a star way more than him i knew who Mario was way before i knew any actors and i believe its the same for alot of people my age
