Being the most highlighted gaming star ever, Mario definently makes him self worth a star on Walk of Fame. But Link from the Zelda games stands out as a great kandidate too! :D As long as it is a Nintendo character ;)
I think this is a great way to promote the industry. It is quickly becoming the most common media form in society, and should be rewarded accordingly. Go Mario!
DEFINATELY
of course i think the decent game characters should be recognised
Mario and zelda have been going for ages and should get something in return
ive been playing games since i could hold the joypad and i thinl that the stars of games that have brought people joy and sometimes frustration should be recognised
Nintendo made a standing point, video games are the entertainment of the 21st century, and they will be a huge standing point for entertainment to come, and their names on the Hollywood walk of fame would etch them in stone forever
I have grown up with videogames. As much as I love a good movie, I can be even more psyched over a good game. Videogames need to be recognized. Mario, Link, Yoshi, Sonic, Pac-man and Misses... they all need a star!
The Mario/Zelda games....
God i spent much time playing those =D
Sure they make great games now too...
But thats just not the same as good old 8bit/16bit Mario/Zelda...
Great idea!!
If any VideoGame character deserves this its Mario...
Zelda/Link on 2:d place easily =D
I fully agree that video game characters should be installed into the hollywood walk of fame. Some characters have been around long enough to warrent such an award.
Characters such as Mario and Link have set the standards for video games and help open up channels between the young and old along with making connections across the sea. What other form of entertainment can say they have been doing that for more than 20 years.
While it is true that videogames may not seem quite as popular as other mediums of entertainment, they are still tantamount to the modern electrical entertainment industry. This idea of adding a video-game category to the Hollywood Walk of Fame is the best I've heard in years.
A very good reason for such a section in the walk of fame has already been stated in the Times article "You 'Ought to be in Pixels," which compares the video game industry to the movie industry. There are interesting similarities. And, Mario, being one of my favorite VG characters, sincerely deserves a spot.
I'm in New Zealand -- yep, that's right, even this side of the world cares so much that game legends get recognition for the overall positive effect they've had on so many young people! Think of Mario and Link -- real heroes; much better role models than most Hollywood personalities.
Video games have become a large aspect of American culture. One year, Nintendo made more money than all of the major film studios combined. Mario has been declared more popular than Mickey Mouse. This is all proof that the video game industry deserves recognition. The video game characters that people of all ages admire deserve their place on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
YES!Do it!And make sure it's Nintendo characters,cuz Xbox is terrible.Maybe a ps2 character...But Nintendo for sure!They started it all,and they will also end it.
Why shouldn't they put Mario on the walk of fame. He's an "ENTERTAINMENT" icon and that's what the walk of fame is all about. Plus I heard they got Godzilla on there and he's in a bunch of crappy movies anyway so why not Mario.
Everyone knows who Mario is so he should most definately have his own star on the Walk of Fame. Everyone also knows who Hitler is so maybe he should get one too.....nah probably not.
if they gave bugs bunny and mickey mouse stars why not mario. I'd like to see mickey mouse and bugs bunny try to kick mario's ass at super smash brothers.
I don't see why they shouldn't be there. After all, put a picture of Mario in front of a child and he/she will most certainly know who it is, where they might not recognize a picture of Carey Grant.
I really think that characters like Mario, Link, Solid Snake, Samus Aran, Sonic, Max Payne, Gordon Freeman and others should have a place on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
