The Walk of Fame honors people who have made contributions to entertainment and culture. When a character is a universally recognized as Mario one cannot deny that it has impacted then entertainment industry and culture. Movies, CD's, and TV shows have been made based on videogame characters and now it is time to honor the character themselves.
well duh they deserve a spot video games are more fun than movie radeo and music put together i would love to see link mario samus and alot of other charictrs on the hollywood walk of fame
Video games are one of the most immersing and fun forms of entertainment these days. Although movies are great, when you watch them over and over again, it gets boring. Also, very few movies get the audience attatched to the characters like video games do. It is important to have a walk of fame for video game characters because not only are we (gamers) fans of these games, but we are tied to the characters. Also, little kids want to be like Mario or Link, out there fighting evil and rescuing a fair princess. Video game characters give kids someone to look up to.
Why not have an "interactive" spot? I'm all for it!
Hmm...I wonder if there could be a spot for past games stars like Kid Icarus, Ness(from Earthbound) and (my personal favorite) Earthworm Jim^_^
Video games are a medium for creativy, entertainment, and possibly even culture. It's about time they get the respect they deserve, especially guys like Mario and Link! In the words of Mr. Miyamoto: "Video games bad for you? That's what they said about rock music."
Video Games are the dominant form of entertainment. Look how many movies are now being based off games: resident evil, alone in the dark, doom, metroid , spy hunter, etc. This would be way cool if it works
Video Games are known thoughout the country as a true interactive entertainment. Video Game sales continue to rise and have become a common way of enjoying free time. Games are quickly making as much money as some major movies and are viewed by an audiance as broad as movies and television. Allowing major Video Game characters their spot in the spotlight is only fair.
I think it's high time that Hollywood recognize the characters that have made an impact in the video game industry since it's conception. Classic characters such as Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Sonic the Hedgehog and so forth have continually made large impacts on the vidoe game industry. The gaming population is continually growing and has become a huge part of society today. It's time to recognize!
It's about time... Video games PWN movie and TV stars, except for Ken Jennings, the Jeopardy player who won $2,522,700 over 74 games. If Ken doesn't have a place on the walk, GET KEN A SPOT! ...But I like this idea.
I agree, there needs to be a video game category. These characters have impacted our lives as much as, if not more than, any other star on the walk of fame. They are recognizable and certainly celebrated, plus they are continuing to provide us with top notch work.
I believe Samus Aran, the bounty hunter and star of all the Metroid Games, should be on the Walk of Fame. Such a video game character like her who fights dangerous opponents and who travels throughout the universe only for good reasons, should be honored and recognized.
Sure the gamestars has to be on the walk of fame!! Mario is longer active than the most hollywood moviestars! Also Link does deserve a spot for his own :) He's really cool and i've played his games couple of times :D
It's is about time video games got the attention they diserved. Vid Games have been entertaining me since I was a wee tot (often far more than movies).
This needs to be done. Video games have had such an impact on the entertainment indusry that it would be wrong to deny them their rightful place on the Walk of Fame.
this hasa to be done man , i have been playing games since i was 5yrs old. i played the firstcontra, the fristmegaman games, even the first metal gear game!!memories. well they deserve it. its an entertainment art form that has to be recognized .
The videogame industry is the biggest, fastest growing, and most varied in entertainment. It should be recognized as such and given a place among the other forms of entertainment.
I think Mario is a great game and keeps kids entertained. Its fun for all ages and is ancient and will probably be around for years to come. They deserve it
Mario must be added, he is easily one of the most popular characters ever created. Most of the Nintendo characters should be added, like Link and Samus. All these characters have brought us entertainment for years and I think it about time they got some recognition.
Luigi, Link, Samus, Donkey Kong, Crono, Locke, add them all. We grew up with these characetrs, they deserve to be there much more than Tom Cruis and Steven Spielberg... Characters will never sell out.
I spend much more time playing video games than watching movies or Television. Games are like a new wave, just as radio and television were. Let them have their chace to shine.
