this is a great idea. Video games are as much a part of entertainment as any movie if not more. Allowing veteran characters such as Mario, Link, Zelda, Donkey Kong would be a fabulous idea.
Any hardcore videogame enthusiast would agree that adding stars to the walk of fame would make everyone happy. Imagine walking down that star strip and seeing the likes of mario, master cheif, Samus, Link, as well as other beloved characters that we have all come to love as icons that touched us all in different ways.
This is long overdue. The day Mario became more recognizeable to children than Mickey Mouse was the day video games proved they were a legitimate form of entertainment and weren't going away any time soon. I think at the very least, if the walk doesn't honor video game "characters" it should at least honor video game designers.
With my generation finally dominating the present world, we need to remember heros from our childhood.
We will never forget you Mario.

While yes I belive all those stars should be remembered on the hollywood walk of Fame! I think in addition people like Iwata and Miyamoto and their companies names should be placed in as well!

I'm totally agree with that, Zelda is a game that shows ideals and dreams of all men, is based on the love to make thing right and help people a sense of responsability to accept your destiny.
I have played video game since I have been born, they are entertaingf and more interative then any movie can take you. Video games and the companies who make them should be known on the Hollywood walkway, b/c video games are here and always will be here, plus they mkae more money then the movie business.
Movies that you can take part in... they deserve more credit than movies. Games have aidied me in developing not only a better sense of reading, but has also strengthened my problem-solving skills.

Last but not least - the gaming industry also has great "stars" to show. Like Mario, Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Sonic, Link and so on. There are "Star-Designers" too - like Shigeru Miyamoto for example. Or "Star-Developers" - Nintendo, Sega and Square are to name as example.
So come on - let Mario and Co. get a star on Hollywoods Walk of Fame!
This is a great idea, and the author of the news artcile is more then right! Video games are the most interactive, not to mention fun, type of media out there. Hopefully with this walk of fame, Nintendo will stay on top!
The developers of games are like the crew of movies. Shigeru Miyamoto would be the most deserving of a star, but Mario and Donkey Kong are the most deserving video game characters of a star on the Walk of Fame
I think the real fame should go to the developers of the games rather than their characters. They deserve the fame and the kudos - besides, it's not like "Ace Ventura" and "The Terminator" are on the walk of fame... it's their actors.
hey i think this is a good idea because the best characters in nintendo or history are zelda mario and donkey kong they were the best since nintendo started and there still really populer.whats good about them is there fun hard,not stupid storylines and lots of adventures iv beaten all of my games but there so fun that i like to arace and beat them over i have all of there games

mario is as famous and memorable a candidate for the walk of fame. you can go almost anywhere and still find people in any age bracket that can recognize mario.

I agree...it is about time. Game characters have been favorites to many more than any movie star will ever be. Why not give them and their designers the same honor. They deserve it.
If any game character deserves being immortalized on the Hollywood Walk of Fame its Mario and Link. The right has been earned and they should receive such a honor!
Video Games deserve such a venue, undoubtedly. It is an activity which, unlike movies or televison, are not limited to anyone in any country of any age. After all, celebreties appearing on the Walk of Fame have, in numerous occasions been in games for one reason or another.
I think that the gaming community, over the years, has grown in numbers so drastically that is in only fair to recognize, in a large way, the characters that have influenced us. It would be to us what the recognition of celebrities is to the movie watching community - simply the right thing to do.
