i agree, but perhaps we should ask for the people behind the games to have thier names be put on the walk of fame, such as shigeru miyamoto, or gunpei yokoi. i only say that because we find actors and actresses not thier characters on film.
If they follow through with this they should definitly have a star commerating the inventers of each of the icons. Actually I would be happy with just a star for Miyamoto.
The walk to me has been a symbol of entertainment icons. Video games like them or not have become a huge industry in the world of entertainment. Therefore, icons in their respected fields should be recognized. (ie. Mario, Link from Zelda)
earthworm jim =)
ohy, and the ones you've already said like Mario, Donkey Kong, Sonic, that Crash Bandicoot dude (that I supose his name Is Crash)... or even Rayman.
Mario is such an important part of global culture and is so well recognized by people across the world. As such a big cultural icon recognizable around the world. He deserves to have his own star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
WOW! This is awesome! The VG and movie industries are already becoming closer than ever, this step could make things perfect! Wouldn't you just love to see a Halo or LoZ movie? Anyways, I think that honoring video game characters is cool, but shouldn't we honr the CREATORS of the characters? I think that would be more appropriate. I hope this goes through, POWER TO THE GAMERS!
I think it is a great idea. why should the movie stars get all the creit for shapeing the enteranment world.the video games teach children morals ande that good always overcomes bad
just as movies, radio, and TV celebs. Video games have captivated young and old for centuries. seeing Sonic, Mario, Crash, Link. and video game developing legends such as: Miyamoto and Igrashi.
this is both and realization and newfound respect of video game glory
This is an idea whose time has come! Induct Miyamoto, Mario and Sonic. And Lara Croft. And while he's a new guy, let's give Master Chief a star while we're at it.
Video games have impacted our lives and are growing. More and more people consider them an art form and I would like to see this art form on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
How many people want to save the world? now how many of those people have a chance to save the world. Let's thank the people that let us save it over and over without ever having to get off of our couch.
Can't believe it's taken so long, especially since the most popular video games outsell hollywood's best. Games are the best entertainment now, and for the future.
Since VG industry periodically rivals the Movie industry, I believe that this must go through! I am totally in favor of this petition as it would help honor so many characters over the past 20+ years.
Mario is such a massively recognizable star in the entertainment world, this totally makes sense....even if he's not in movies, he's still more popular around the world than most movie stars....immortalize him!!
this needs to happen, not just with nintendo though, just think: we could have master chief, link, and all other universally recognized characters as well!
Entertainment is not limited to movies...while a completely new VG Walk of Fame in Japan may be a better option to show a distinction between the silver screen and the all might controller, some hall of fame should be put together.
