This is a just cause. No one can deny the legendary status of Shigeru Miyamoto and Nintendo's franchise characters. No one can deny the influence that the interactive entertainment industry has had on society. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce should not deny them either.
I think this is the ultimate idea. Mario is the best video game character out there, without him there wouldn't be any platformers. Or they wouldn't be any good.
If you ask my opinion, I think the developers behind the games should get the honders, not just the games themselves. That said, Hideo Kojima, Shigeru Miyamoto, and Will Wright should have stars of their own. In the realm of characters, Mario, Link, Master Chief, Solid Snake, and Simon Belmont should recieve honers.
I would love to see "Link" on the walk of fame. He's as great and long lasting as the Simpsons characters are, and they're on the walk of fame. Link should be there too!
This would certainly be a feather in the cap of the video games industry, and a good step towards it acheiving true mainstream respect. If not the characters, at least creators/developers should have this sort of recognition.

I am Chilean and in my 19 years of life I loved videogames, but Nintendo was and will always be my favourite videogame company. I had played a lot of Mario games and I don't remember any of them that I didn't enjoy. (Mario Tennis for N64 was the first Tennis game that was fun and I loved to play!) And if Mario gets the honor to be on the Hollywood Walk of Fame I'll be honored too and also be proud of Mario, Nintendo and Shigeru Miyamoto, his creator (And he also deserves a lot to be on it!).

He has earned it, it has more than a decade bringing fun and challenges to video gamers, he really has made a long journey and he is almost equaly known to any of the other members in the Hollywood walk of Fame
