I hope WALL-E ends up on the Best Picture Nod. If it doesn't, I will not watch the oscars.
WALL-E costed 180,000,000 to make, just as much as the Dark Knight. So many people worked so hard on it. Ben Burtt did amazing voice design, Stanton wrote his most daring script, the computer graphics were realistic (with the exception of the human characters), Newman did a beautiful themed score (WHY DID HE NOT GET A NOD FOR BEST MUSIC AT THE ANNIES?!), etc.,etc.
I also find WALL-E to be better than Beauty and the Beast. That was a great movie, but WALL-E told the better story.
WALL-E is not one of the bloated romance films like the great, but overrated Titanic. Titanic did nothing but circled around Jack and Rose romance. There were many things going on beside WALL-E's and EVE's romance- There was a lethargic society, a polluted Earth, and machines discovering life. And WALL-E romance with EVE affected humanity.
WALL-E is certainly better than Kung Fu Panda. Kung Fu Panda only took 130 million to make. Kung Fu Panda is certainly funnier, but comedy is not enough to define a good movie. Kung Fu Panda had a excellent storyline, but it is what it is, it was only meant to make children laugh and enjoy it. Kung Fu Panda is not of the universal. Young children will love the cuteness of WALL-E, and teens and adults will love the allegorical story.
Dreamworks may be funnier, but Pixar suceeds in mixed comedy with out-of-this world storylines. Storylines matter more than comedy.
Because you think comedy defines how good a movie is, you are one of those inconsiderate people who give no damn toward the hard effort.
What use is an Annie Award to WALL-E? WALL-E is no animated movie, it's a romance made by animation. Saying that WALL-E is an animated movie is discriminating.
If WALL-E doesn't show up on the Best Picture category, I will never watch the Oscars again. Mark my words.
The creativity and precision this movie explodes with are on a tier that only one or two films have reached this year. It deserves to be recognized for this achievement, whether it's animated or not!
Nix what I said about Clone Wars; after I read the reviews, I changed my mind. But, I'm sure Wall-E is good, and the Academy should at least give it a nomination if you all hold it in such high regard.
As much work that goes into live-action filmmaking is the same if not less than what goes into animated filmmaking. Wall-E has revolutionized filmmaking in every way you can think of. The story alone was more phenomenal than anything else I have ever seen. It was so incredible. So unique. And a Best Animated Feature win would never do it justice, because we all know it's going to win that anyway. Please give Wall-E the credit it deserves. It doesn't derve just to be nominated for Best Picture. It deserves to win. This is the only animated film that can go down in history as the first to win BP, because you won't see a movie like this one again. Ever.
WALL-E deserves to compete with live-action films in the Best Picture catagory. It's a shoo-in for Best Animated Picture, but it deserves a higher award than that. This is the most beautiful animated film ever created, and it's clear that the filmmakers at Pixar poured all of their love into this story. WALL-E is proof that G-rated animated movies do not always deserve the label of "a kid's film." This was the most adult Pixar work to-date, and in many ways, it resonates more with adults than with children. Give WALL-E the honor it has more than earned.
I feel WALL•E succeeds on more levels -- story, character sophistication (both development and "acting"), visuals, score, sound and others -- than any other animated movie ever has, and more than many live action films do. If this isn't the animated movie that is capable of "crossing over" and winning the Best Picture Oscar, what could ever be? It is time the Academy overcame "Animation Discrimination" and recognized this truly landmark film achievement with an opportunity to at least compete for the top Oscar.
I support this petition. I have watched Wall-E and I believe it has taken a different path in creating a movie that appeals to as many people as the Nintendo Wii convinced people of all ages to play.
