On November 19th, 2006, Wal-Mart will end a long standing program- Layaway. Items will no longer be able to be put on layaway at any of their many stores.

They hope to save money by ending a program aimed at low income and mid-level income families. This program helps many people get the items they need, while being able to save for it, and ensure the item is still in stock when they can afford it.

The new alternative? Put America in debt with a Wal-mart brand credit card. Tell the company what you think about this!

Sign the petition, but also contact your local Wal-mart with feedback. This program has time to be revived yet!

From the Walmart.com website:

"We value your opinion and welcome your feedback. It's our long-standing belief that we can only get better when we know where we need to improve.

Let us know if you have any questions, comments or suggestions about what you've seen here in our people section. We appreciate your input and look forward to hearing from you."

597 DENISE GURSKY I have always shopped at Walmart but with the absence of layaways there I have to switch to KMART. Its sad
596 Crystal I support this petition. Christmas will be harder this year.
595 Karen T. Not all people believe in the credit card way of payment, or their credit might be bad and they will not be approved for the credit card.I shop at WalMart year round and I think layaway should be open to the public to save the economy money our economy is already screwed up enough without adding some more into it. Layaways not only is a good way for parents to hide Christmas gifts for their loved ones. They shouldn't have to go in debt doing so.
594 val I wish you would bring back the layaway I have 6 children and this is the only way I am able to afford christmas, school supplies, birthdays, etc it made it alot easier on us to be able to get everything and make payments on it please bring it back also you are the only place that we will shop at because you are reasonably priced everyone eles charges an arm and leg
593 Andrew Shultz
592 SHY I WOULD LIKE TO SEE WAL-MART BRING BACK THERE LAYAWAY WE LITTLE PEOPLE THAT DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO GO BUY SOMETHING RIGHT OUT REALLY NEEDED THAT LAYAWAY
591 Jessica Austin not everyone has great credit and not everyone can afford to get a card and not everyone wants another credit card.
590 Harry Hatt
589 s Holbrooks This is the first Christmas without wal-mart layaway, and there was no way that I could get my family anything that they want, because it is hard to spend 200 to 300 dollars in wal mart with out the layaway. I really do enjoy going in to wal mart store, because it feel like home when i am in there. You know when some people get RICH they forget the the POOR people who really depend on the layaway, But one day the POOR people will be RICH and they will not even shop at wal-mart. Don't forget about the POOR people when you are at the top, living good not worry about what to get your family for christmas ,because you have the money.
588 Effie Montgomery I would like the layaway to stay because that's the only way some people can afford Christmas. I can't get any credit cards with my credit rating and layaway was the only way I could afford Christmasfor my 4 young children.
587 janet martin i would like the layaway to stay .people put thang on layaway because they cant aford it so it easy to do this

585 Sarah
584 george sansom keep the lay way please some people need this ty
583 Wanda Please keep the Layaway plan in place. Also could you consider bringing in goods made in the USA! I am sure people would be happier paying alittle more $ for quality goods.
582 Dana Please consider reinstating the layaway program. You have no idea how hard it is to plan for the holidays on a limited budget. And most the customers that shop at Walmart are middle to low class budget. How could you disrespect your loyal customers like this? I bet you and your family will have a happy holiday.
581 KATHY I THINK WE SHOULD BOYCOT WALMART.DON'T SHOP THERE AT CHRISTMAS. SHOP KMART.
580 Nick BRING LAY AWAY BACK! In order to pay for my family's Christmas presents, I need to pay only a certain amount each week; and it's virtually impossible to get a credit card with my credit rating!
579 Vicki Johnson
578 renee we need layaway what are the ones with out credits cards to do
577 Creesha Hall-EL IF WAL-MART KNOWS THAT MOST OF THIER CUSTOMERS LIVE PAYCHECK TO PAY CHECK WHY WOULD WAL-MART MAKE IT SO MUCH HARDER ON POOR TO MIDDLE CLASS CUSTOMERS?
576 Heather L. Kohn

574 Kim bradman I am a single mother who uses layaway to help afford clothes for my kids. Please keep the layaway.

567 joy i have six children and i am college student the layaway program was the only way i could insure that my children would have a big christmas i really wish that walmart would bring back the layaway program and if someone does not pick up their layaway then they should ban them from future layaways.

564 April Shannon This is going to end up being a disaster..what family in these times has the money to go out and pay outright for a new t.v. or for Christmas/Birthdays for their children? Give it a season or two and Walmart will see just where their sales go...DOWN!

562 Robert You know every year we alway's stat layaway for Christmas at Wal-mart we alway's start our lawaway in October we were hoping that Wal-mart could atleast do it for Christmas after all it is the Season for a big Heart. Whithout layaway for us we have three children and we are unemployed and with the gas prices on top of that I gues our children will have to do without or do with less, I think Wal-mart will loose alot of buisiness at Christmas time but I do know that the Lord will always provide even if Wal-mart won't help. Thank you and may God Bless you this Holiday Season. Robert

552 beverly I THINK THAT WALMART SHOULDN'T NEVER DONE AWAY WITH THE LAYAWAY PROGRAM I DON'T SEE HOW THEY LOST MONEY ANYWAY BECAUSE JUST LIKE WHERE I LIVE THEY ARE THE ONLY RETAIL STORE HERE AND IT MOSTLY LOW WAGED INCOME PEOPLE WITH CHILDREN WHOSE PARENTS RELIED ON THAT FOR CHRISTMAS
551 Tammy N. Stevenson I have been shopping at Wal-Mart for 20 yrs. faithfully. I was really upset to hear the lay-a-way program was no longer going to be available. What about Christmas? Lay-a-way is how most low icome and also middle class income families shop. Please reconsider this decision for fathful customers.
550 Michel Hawk I miss Walmart's layawy. It will hurt my christmas shopping this year. please bring it back.
549 Beatrice TENNYSON
548 Melissa McAlpine Do NOT get rid of your layaway. You are hurting many a person by doing such a thing. It makes Wal*Mart less apealing place to shop.
