31 Jan 2007 - 3:20    Gabriela V. : Most of us live on fixed incomes and hard to come up with enough money to buy presents, toys for christmas or clothes for our kids. Bring layaway back, you will get more customers than you have and more.
2 Feb 2007 - 3:23    Mark vogler : for people on fixed income it was a way for for us to purchase things for our kids, now we half to shop elsewhere in order to do so, bring back the layaway
2 Feb 2007 - 20:38    Amber Day : Walmart was opened to target low budget to middle class families, now you are pushing them to shop with your competitor causing Walmart in the long run to loose money. People just didn't like the Christmas layaway, but they also liked the year round layaway.
4 Feb 2007 - 22:48    Jessica : I have always done all of my shopping at Walmart. But I am now 4 months pregnant and decided to put all of my baby stuff on layway so I can pay for it little by litte since I don't need it for a few more months. But the only olace that offers it is Kmart. I would love to see walmart bring it back by the time I start buying my things. I do like your prices alot better. I know alot of people who have switched to kmart because of the layaway. I just don't want to pay interest on a credit card. Layaway is a much better choice.
5 Feb 2007 - 18:22    roberta bott :
6 Feb 2007 - 0:56    KD Radcliffe : I was really disappointed when I was Told that Walmart would be getting rid of their layaway. I've been using layaway for a number of years. It allowed me to be able to buy items I normally couldn't afford at one time by paying on it a little each month and it was a great feature at christmas and back to school. It insured that I would still get the product I wanted, but only a little later. I went to the Walmart website directly and send an email of concern but never did receive any feedback from Walmart
12 Feb 2007 - 0:20    Joyce McDonald :
13 Feb 2007 - 11:02    Abbe :
15 Feb 2007 - 17:47    melissa : Please get lay away back for your customers that need it . I used it so that I did not have to bring xmas gifts home and store
16 Feb 2007 - 1:59    Lynda : Doing away with layaway is a huge mistake. Many people can not afford to spend large amounts of money on clothing or household items at once. Layaway was perfect for this. We were able to buy want we needed ( and most of teh time more than what we needed ) and had time to pay it off. I am happy to pay a layaway fee, as long as it is not outragous, and a cancelation fee if I have to cancel teh layaway for some reason ( as I am sure many others would pay as well ). Bring back layaway, we really need it.
16 Feb 2007 - 4:00    Rachel McDonough :
16 Feb 2007 - 4:19    Jackie North : Layaway helps people budget their money. we need all the help we can get these days!!!
16 Feb 2007 - 6:26    carol kidd :
16 Feb 2007 - 6:46    JENNIFER BLEVINS : I think it's terrible to take away what some families depend on to make things able for their kids. If Sam was still alive he would never allow this. Much less doing away with Made IN THE USA
16 Feb 2007 - 10:33    walmart is unamerican : walmart should go to china, where they buy all their crap, and stay there
16 Feb 2007 - 22:06    yvette cohn :

17 Feb 2007 - 22:27    Franita Coleman : Wal-Mart should keep layaway for many good reasons. People shouldn't be punished for having lower income than other people. Everyone can't get credit cards so why punish them. Remember we help you get where you are.
17 Feb 2007 - 22:33    Daryl Williams :
17 Feb 2007 - 22:35    Mildred Coleman :
17 Feb 2007 - 23:06    Linda Cohn : Walmart should continue layaways for people who can't afford to pay cash outright for items needed.Layaway plans are convenient for parents with small children..More customers will be going to Kmart Stores and avoiding Walmart. Is this worth losing your profits over?
23 Feb 2007 - 7:34    Donna Mae Austin : I depended on the layaway plan several times a year including school time, Christmas, birthdays and on special occasions.
23 Feb 2007 - 7:45    Kevin Nutt : Many families mine included rely on Layaway programs for school shopping, christmas shopping, and other special occasions. Without the layaway program at WalMart we may be forced to shop elsewhere.
23 Feb 2007 - 7:49    Darci :
23 Feb 2007 - 7:51    Dena :
1 Mar 2007 - 0:27    Stormy Rogers : I depend on Walmart for thins that I could usaully not be able to afford. It is important to many people in many cities. Please keep the layaway program active.

3 Mar 2007 - 10:21    madeline scott : layaway is for people who can't buy things outright, this helps people like us who suppotr this establishment
4 Mar 2007 - 8:04    JGC : Many families depend on the layaway programs in order to purchase their merchandise. It's also a very helpful program for the holidays. Walmart should keep the program if they want to keep ALL of their customers.
7 Mar 2007 - 22:34    Sharon Elrod : People who like nice things can't always just walk in and pay for them. Please keep our layaway at Wal-Mart. This service is so helpful to so many.
8 Mar 2007 - 1:32    Brad Christian : It is very easy to simply dismiss the concept of the layaway as antiquated due to the fact that credit is so easily accessible today, however with the growing number of bankruptcies that are filed each year one really has to ask the question is the person that places an item on layaway, pays it off and then owns it free and clear smarter than the person that simply says "charge it" takes it home and then continues to make minimum payments on top of absorbent interest charges? For individuals who do not always have the discipline to save money "under their mattress", and clearly with the ever expanding sub-prime market there are many of them, I believe that layaway is a smart and responsible way for consumers to shop. In fact that there are companies out there like Financing Alternatives Inc. that have based their entire business model on a hybrid version of the layaway. This company sells personal computers, other major electronics and jewelry items. The way the program works is that they ask each consumer to establish a short credit history by making a few payments and then the company ships the product directly to your door. The consumer continues to make payments until the item is paid in full. There is no credit check and absolutely no hidden fees that come back to haunt you. The companies website is www.myfai.com.
8 Mar 2007 - 7:58    Doris P :
11 Mar 2007 - 22:38    jennifer edlin : people need lay away to help them purchase items. walmart says they are there to help people, but at every turn they show they really do not care about the small people only their own pockets.
15 Mar 2007 - 22:37    Heather Stafford :
19 Mar 2007 - 20:53    E. SPANN : I personally have become a K-mart customer due to the no lay-a-way decision at Wal-Mart. I'm a single mother with only my income to support myself and my child. I don't have extra money at pay day to just go in and pick up what I need and pay for it right then;I wish I could. But this is the real world, and people that I know who can afford to purchase what they want, even states that its ridiculous. Because at one point they needed lay-a-way also.
25 Mar 2007 - 2:44    Lois Ryan : By taking away the layaway Wal Mart will lose its competitive advantage
