312 21 Nov 2006 - 13:13    misty t : i am already wondering how i am going to buy my children christmas gifts this year! they didnt give enough warning on phasing out layaway so i wasnt prepared for this! without layaway we cant afford to get most of theses things! and we dont have another store in our town to shop in which means we will have to drive at least and hour and a half to do the layaway thing at kmart! walmart isnt thinking about the little people who cant afford to do it any other way!

323 22 Nov 2006 - 19:21    Janice Wiley : To shut down lay-away would mean a struggle for low-income people. Most people can only afford things needed with lay-away.

339 24 Nov 2006 - 3:15    Tonya : When Wal Mart was established, it was based on family values, and having a layaway helps everyone. This allows low income families buy for their families. Where did Sam's dream go. Why do we have CEO's sitting so high up that they can't look low enough to see that everyone do not walk around with hundreds of dollars in their pockets. Have you forgot that we (the customers) are the ones who made you what you are today. You WILL loose many valuable customers to KMart because of this stuid choice of yours. Sam Walton once said "The customers are always right", or have you forgotten.
340 24 Nov 2006 - 10:07    Chanti Owen : I think you should keep lay away at WalMarts. For those of us that don't have credit cards and dont want the debt, we appreciate the service that this allows to me buy the things I want when they are on sale and be able to pay for it without all of the hassle of credit cards.

342 24 Nov 2006 - 11:13    Kathy G. : My husband is employed by wal-mart, and I have done the majority of my shopping there for eight years, but without layaway my dollars will go elsewhere. If I have to save the full dollar price I might as well go where there is a better selection. I usually had 5 layaways going at a time, and in eight years I only had to forfeit 1 of there...oh well I guess wal-mart no longer wants my money.
343 24 Nov 2006 - 11:26    Kim H : I was literally in shock to find out only 4 weeks before Christmas that I will have to change a custom or tradition, if you will, that I have practiced for my entire adult life. I can't tell you the sense of pride that someone on a limited budget gets when that final payment is made on that Christmas lay-away and they are able to provide the same items to their family and freinds that other higher income people do. I guess I will be starting a new tradition with other companies that think about the customer first and not themselves. You are forgetting who made Wamart what it is today. I can dare say that people who shop at high-end stores won't just mysteriously begin shopping at Walmart because of their lack of loyalty to the customers that have been extremely loyal to them. I will no longer shop at Walmart for ANYTHING! Thanks for Nothing! And, oh by the way, I wish the executives at Walmart a wonderful Christmas this year because I can almost guarantee you that this will be one of the last "Merry" Christmas'you people will have.
344 24 Nov 2006 - 19:09    melanie woods : walmart should keep lawaway for the convience of customer. I find it hard to believe customers do not this service. They are doing this for their own convience and to push their credit card. I have had issues b4 with Walmart with how they treat empolyees, wages and how they get their items to be at a lower cost. Layaway is the only reason I go there-so I guess now I wont.
345 25 Nov 2006 - 6:35    Catherine Roberts : Christmas is hard enough for low income families. Infact, I am beginning to believe that this holiday is going to turn out to be a rich person's holiday. Keep the lay away there are enough of our children (like mine) who will not have a christmas. When people are down and out already why do corporations such as yourself want to finish them off?

349 25 Nov 2006 - 17:58    Amy : I support this petition. For the Families that Don't have the money to spend all at once for presents or school clothes for their children. I think the removal of layaway will hurt lowincome, retirees and just the average people
