On October 6th 2006, Wendi Ciavarella was killed by a drunk driver. Wendi was 25 years old, her killer 27. Her killer had multiple DUI offenses that were plead down to reckless operating charges, multiple drug charges and a host of other crimes that should have kept him in jail for a very long time. The court system plead him down and suspended his licence. I am proposing that the drunk driving laws change so that a first time offender gets a mandatory one (1) year jail sentence with no plea agreements allowed. Also, if the drunk driving results in a death, it should be a mandatory murder charge.
