I've been readin stuff on petitions lately that say that people who have just discovered green day and other bands and havent been fans of these bands for years are posers, and if you dress like a punk you are a poser. well i say to these "pure punk rawk dude" people that WE ARE NOT F***IN POSERS. the only reason i discovered punk bands NOW is cuz im 12 freakin years old. so all who are sick of being called punk posers, sign!
PS. examples of posers are Ashlee Simpson, Hilary Duff and all those other so called "rock chicks" who dont even write their own songs because they are so mentally retarted.

Real punks are no longer around, but to let you in on a secret, real punks wouldnt be caught on the internet much less crying and acting like a bunch of poser pansies by having an online petition. Your all posers, Greenday ripped off Social Distortion, including the lead singers \'head twitch\' and all their mannerisms. Greenday, all you petition signers are POSERS TO THE MAX. i agree with this petition because i like the attitude that your trying to convey. don't let the media dictate what is punk, fuck the media. they are stupid capitalist ass's and they don't know what the fuck they are talking about. being punk is about telling everyone who calls you a poser, different, freak etc. to fuck off cause you like being a freak. haha.

I have been a fan since I was four but not all people who just got into Green Day are posers so yeah. If you are listening because you love the music not its popularity then keep loving and fuck em all!

I'll admit that I listen to some of the old green day albums like dookie but green day are not punk. American Idiot is the worst Green day album i've ever heard. Real punk is like Sex pistols, Anti flag, the casualties, rancid, the exploited, the clash..........etc

You're only a poseur if you're not true to yourself, which is what Punk's about. 'Punk' clothes don't make you Punk. Personally, I never considered Greenday to be Punk Rock, they're more Pop-Rock to me.(and on a mainstream record label) Oh yeah and just because you see bands on t.v. labelled as 'Punk' by the media doesn't mean that Punk's dead. (since those bands ain't Punk Rock anyways) Just that those bands are targetting middle-class,teeny-bopper s with the whole 'my life sucks' bullshit. While using a so called 'Punk' look. These are some Punk bands that you may like: Lower Class Brats, Amebix, Cheap Sex, Sex Pistols, The Damned, the Casualties, Agnostic Front, G.B.H., Crass. Oh yeah and a 'Poseur' is someone who is not staying true to themselves, because they are trying to be someone who they are not. Names are labels so let's quit the whole labels don't exist bullshit. Without names like boy, girl, car or whatever you wouldn't be able to describe a person, place or thing, let alone yourself. Also who cares what people think, if you like a band listen to them. If other punx give you shit for listening to music that isn't Punk Rock, fuck'em.

Only "posers" use that term. It implies that you have a set standard for how an individual should/sholud not be. The individual using the term poser is usually living up to taht format and therefore they are the ones not being themselves. They're full of shit. As far as garnering acceptance they are usually "popular" at least with one clique or another so who the fuck are they to talk?
