Yahoo chat is a chat client that many people over the years have come to enjoy. I for one have had a "regular" room for almost 4 years now. I bounced around before that. After finding a regular room and meeting several people and making connections with them, the user rooms were closed. The fall out from those rooms have had no where to go, but into our rooms. We have had numerous people come through, which isnt entirely bad, but the bots are horrible. We used to have to deal with maybe 5-10 bots in the rooms. I dont feel that the people that have to pay for yahoo, should have to be subjected to dealing with the bots. Even the users that have free access to yahoo, shouldnt that be an enjoyable experience to them as well? What is the point in offering a free chat client if no one can use it because of porn spam bots. Yes those same bots are in ALL yahoo chat rooms, I have done a lot of looking around lately. Taking the user rooms away doesnt stop porn from being advertised to the minors that do visit chat rooms. All that has been accomplished is that now there is an over abundance of theese spam bots. SBCGlobal has been flourishing as I have seen many people come and go with sbcglobal.net attached to their id's, just as it is attached to mine. Isnt there any way that you can do something to rid our rooms of the bots? I know that you may not be able to get rid of all the bots in the rooms, but now there are so many that real people can not get into their rooms. I have watched several people leave chat because of this annoyance. I agree with Yahoo's decision to close the user rooms, because there were too many minors going places that they should not have been, and too many undesirable people had access to those minors, but is it fair to take away the chat experience for everyone? By filling the rooms with bots that continuously post sexually oriented information, all it does is take away space that someone else could use, to say hello to a friend, to talk about what is bothering them, or what they really enjoy, isnt that the right that we all have when we do make a friend? To be able to share those moments, be it online or some other way. I know that a lot of people do not have to pay to use yahoo, it is a free chat client for them, unfortunately I can not say that is the case for me. I have SBCGlobal for an ISP which means that yahoo is the available chat client. I dont feel that it is right for those of us that do pay to use Yahoo! chat have to get stuck dealing with the bots. If it were content that we could actually use it would be different. But what was the use in closing the user rooms, if they were going to put porn spam bots in all the rooms? It hasnt taken away the risk to minors being exposed to viewing this stuff. All I ask is that you take the time to go into the chat rooms, experience the overload of bots for yourself, listen to the people that use this chat client, hear us out, and please take action to remove atleast some of the bots. Make yahoo a place that is a fun and can be enjoyed by its users again. We thank you very much for your understanding and your consideration, and for providing a chat client that thousands of people use on a regular basis, again all we ask is that you please take the time to rid us of this abundance of bots.

I support removing bots & BRINGING BACK THE USER ROOMS. Why do the whole have to suffer for bad Parenting skills. What Y! should have done is prosecute the Parents that allow their children to surf unsupervised. PARENTS should be held accountable for THEIR ABUSE to their Children!

I support this petition. Yahoo should be fined or scrapped for letting chat get in such a sorry state. Is there any sort of governing body that could make yahoo get it's shit together or else.

I support this petition. A bit outdated, should be revised. Yahoo shouldn't anyone make more then 1 ID per chat client, banning isp doesnt do any good. Report spam will not let you report a bot that is not the original ID. Bring user rooms back, make a chat client specifically for children (not sure if yahooligans is a chat client or not). but keep them separate with moderators in them anyway. Let us have access to chat rooms without being spammed by all the bots.
